the best book in the logan family series
For those that read Roll of thunder hear my cry, you need to read this book if you haven't already. And if you plan on reading roll of thunder...then read this first. It's about a man's struggle and determination to own a piece of land (I forgot how large it is) for his family and generations to come. It's also about love, family, frienships, and most importantly growing up and trust. This book is on definetely on my top 10 list!

A reviewer
This book was very emotional and it had my eyes glued to the pages from page 1. And i cried at diffrent parts of the book. I have never cried just because of a book. That shows how good this book is.

I had to read this book for school and it was probably the worst book I ever read. If I could give this book 0 stars I would but I have to give at least 1.

Awesome Book
The Land is a book filled with a glorious adventure of a young boy.

A young boy of two races, white and black, Paul Edward Loganhas had a life full of adventure and hardship.
He had to fight his way through his childhood and flee his way during his teenage years.
Moving periodically from turpentine camps to lumber yards and out to thr countryside hiding from his southernmost pursuers.
He had to hide from a half white family to which he felt he did not belong.
Paul Logan went through tests of strength and courage fighting lifes battles, with his best friend to whom gave him such a hard time earlier in life, to follower a certain dream.
A dream of making something of himself to have something of his own no matter what race he was, to be better than what a white man says he can be.
A dream of having something worth value more than the words of any man.
A dream of The Land, the Mississippi land that he so desired.
The land that he discovered on his journey through Mississippi after leaving for a town called Strawberry, where he began his trade in carpentry.
This dream i believe is bigger than what any man could say to or about Paul Logan to derive him of being a somebody in the new society.
Paul Logan went through years of heart wrenching, blood dripping, sweat drenching work to only be stabbed in the back by every white man that possibly could.
However it was Paul's sister and white family in the end that helped overcome his goal as he finally retrieved his land.
He married the widow of his best friend and started a wonderful life with her as they had five children and occupied more and more land as the years went on. -

my ultimate favorite
this book... was by far the most emotional, thrilling and unforgettable novel in the logan saga. it really opened up a lot of doors to understanding from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry how and what the struggles were of coming to the land that they owned and understanding the true freedom of what they possessed. i'd recommend this book to any child or adult alike.
