    A Land of Ash

A Land of Ash is a collection of stories surrounding the eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera. While the writing was good, I never felt connected to any of the characters. Additionally, there are only so many people that one can kill with a cloud of ash before I start skimming just to finish the book. A good idea, good writing, but it just didn't come together for me.

    Sobering.

That really is the best word for this series. The first story sets the tone for the rest of the shorts in this compilation. The premise is that the Yellowstone Caldera decided "better late than never" and finally blew. These stories don't have heroes or villains. No super powers, enchanted swords, or light-speed ships. Every story is human. Normal, for the most part, people and how they'd deal with a situation that could arguably be the worst natural disaster in history. These stories range from clinically interesting to truly emotional. Worth every penny and then some.

This book being broken into short stories that all revolve aroun

This book being broken into short stories that all revolve around the eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera really leaves you partially disturbed because, well, what would you do? And it also leaves you half sad and relieved to read the stories in this book. Really enjoyed them, great read.

    A good read

A fast, easy-to-read series of vignettes centered around the eruption of the Yosemite volcano. The stories are from around the country and deal with how people cope with the afternath of the eruption. A very interesting and unusual book.
