A truly fascinating novel of young people, identifying their intrinsic connection to the dreams each has in their lives.
What was fascinating to me was the manner in which this author has brought together the thoughts and feelings of individuals sharing a summer of hope based on their own beliefs and appreciation of life. Such a wonderful experience to read a good clean book, and without doubt, enjoyable and entertaining, captivating my interest from cover to cover.
Phillip, may GOD bless you always. You are an inspiration to a reader of your novels, although I never see myself writing a book now.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: This novel was nothing like I thought it would be and yet I absolutely adored it.

The characters were cute and I loved readinga bout them. Tanya, Anton, and Johno were undeniably intriguing. I loved that Overton allowed us to delve into each of their heads.

The premise of the novel was also intriguing. Andon and Johno pull up a bottle that allows any dream to come true. That should be perfect, right? But they are about to find that you should be careful what you wish for.

The writing style was very well crafted and drew me into the story. I flew through this novel and was thoroughly entertained the whole time.

So why three stars? While I enjoyed this book, it just lacked that extra something necessary to earn four stars. However, I loved how Overton weaved the idea of summer, love, Christianity, wishes, and friendship into one novel.

I did give this book three stars because while Overton did weave these themes together nicely, I felt like something was slightly lacking.

However, let me reiterate that this book was an enjoyable, fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was hooked from page one and loved the book on a whole. I thought the characters' interactions with each other were genuine and that none of the characters were simply stock characters.

He developed his novel very nicely and this is one that I'm so glad I read. It had all the right qualities to make a captivating read.

The book was also clean which is something I deeply appreciated. There was no swearing, no sex scenes, and I loved that. Clean books are so rare that whenever I find one I celebrate.

In Summary: Phillip Overton's novel, Last Wish Of Summer, brilliantly weaves themes of friendship, love, summer, faith, and luck into a novel that readers are bound to love. Overton's novel was thoroughly enjoyable and left me entertained from the get-go.

Warnings/Side-notes: Like I mentioned above, this book is clean.

The Wrap-up: This book was above all just a fun read that I adored reading. I was rooting for the characters from the beginning and found myself constantly wondering what would happen next. This was a book I couldn't put down and quite enjoyed reading.

This book is a shiny happy novel and definitely not what I was
expecting. It was really a light Christian romance and totally sweet.
Though you may not be able to relate well to very Christian Tanya and
her two surfer friends Anton and Johnno, you will love them. Tanya's
Christian beliefs are a little bit overwhelming at times. She's 26, a
virgin and when Sebastian gets romantic with her, she slaps him and then
realizes she's in love with another guy. Uh erm. It doesn't ring true to
me, but really I didn't care. I loved her. I loved her message in a
bottle too, that somehow managed to find its way back to the shore where
her friends were surfing. It would have been nice to possibly figure
out why the poem she placed in the bottle somehow had the powers to
grant wishes. The way the wishes are granted makes this book a worthy
read. After all, you really do have to be careful what you wish for, and
everyone learns that in this book. Some in harder ways then others. I
really loved this story. It was a fun and fast read that will work for

This is a pretty spiritual book. I normally don’t tend to read fiction
that is spiritual but I took a chance in the case of Last Wish of Summer
and it paid off. Firstly although it does have some pretty heavy
spiritual overtones, it’s mostly the main character, Tanya, that is
religious and speaks to God. However it isn’t throughout the entire
book. Tanya is just lost and looking for a way to not loose her faith,
begging God to help her move along with her life after the sudden deaths
of her parents. This story is about loss and faith and all of the
greatness about life that we tend to throw away. It’s actually a really
funny story but at the same time with every wish I was cringing, hoping
something bad didn’t happen! Every character was interesting. They each
had a certain quirk that I liked. Anton was definitely my favorite
character and he was supposed to be the lost boy of the group. Although
all of them were a little lost in their own ways. The friendships that
the main characters shared was amazing even with Tanya trying to push
people away, it was another one of her quirks that they had to overlook
to be her friend. I loved that all of the characters had something to
learn about life. They each had to grow and Phillip Overton does an
amazing job at showing us that growth through a variety of circumstances
which are just plain crazy! It was like the entire story was a huge
character arc! Even the minor characters learned something or had
something to teach the others. This was a really good, easy read.
Definitely perfect for the end fo summer while lazing on a beach. Even
the spiritual tones didn’t turn me off. They were a part of Tanya and it
made the reasoning behind her actions understandable and believable.
Even if you’re not spiritual I’d say pick this book up when you want a
fun, make you feel good at the end of it kind of book. And it got me
thinking, what exactly would I wish for if I found my own magic bottle?
