Good Book - Lots of Great Techniques!
I'm a writer (that's my book below) and a practicing hypnotherapist, and I love Abraham's and the Hicks' work for its clear, crisp and clean accessibility. If you are new to this kind of work, this is the perfect place to start. This book can help you learn to attract your own joyful exuberance, connect to your purpose and attract the money you need, too!

A great way to start
If you are new to the "Law of Attraction" than this is a great book to start with.
It starts off a little strange and may even scare some readers off. The pessimist will have a difficult time with the first few chapters and may not make it that far, however, for those who are looking to change their lives for the better, this is your book.
Once I got past how Esther and Abraham came to know and communicate with each other it was hard for me to stop reading. Many questions I've had throughout my life have been answered just by reading this book.
If you're looking for a book to change your attitude to more of a positive one this book is excellent, but it goes far beyond that. I would dare anyone to read it and prove what is written to be wrong.5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

A reviewer
In The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, Jerry and Esther Hicks speak of this powerful, consistent law that when you get a sense of what your vibration is, and when you pay attention to the way you feel so you can feel how much of who you really are you are focusing in this moment, then you will never again be uncomfortable or surprised about anything that happens to you, or to anyone else. No one else is keeping you from anything that you want. There is not an agency, not a parent, not an influence, there is not another -- nothing can prevent you from the fulfillment of your own desires -- only you. And only you can do it through offering a vibration that is not in alignment with your desires. And, your emotions are telling you in every moment whether or not you are allowing or resisting, whether or not you are in alignment or misalignment with your own desires. By understanding The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, and more importantly, understanding the way you feel, you'll discover your creative abilities. There is nothing that you cannot be or do or have there is nothing that you cannot reach for and achieve -- and there is nothing that needs to take a long time to come to you. Pay attention to the way you feel. And make your essential, determined stance be that you're going to make the best of things. No matter where you are, you're going to make the best of it. Now repeat that to yourself. Other's will discover, through their exposure to you, their own joy. You never teach anyone anything by pointing out what they're doing wrong and then trying to discipline them into doing something that you believe is right. All you do is distort their awareness of the only guidance that will ever be of any value to them. Jerry and Esther Hicks do an amazing job explaining The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham. There is one fundamental principle for you to attract your desired goal. It is your feelings. It is not thinking, but feeling what you think about that bring success to your desire or bring failure to what you fear. As a man think in his heart, so is he.

Wealth of inspiration...
The premise that we are in charge of our destiny is one of the most liberating premises in our existence. The Law of Attraction not only declares this premise, but teaches us the tools needed to make it a reality. There are countless examples of the Law in action and seen to fruition in addition to inspiring those of us that are willing to believe to incorporate these Laws into our lives. I absolutely recommend this book to everyone.

This is not a book about GOD or how to please others. Thes book tells you how to attract things into your life that you want, how to keep the things that you don't want in your life out. This book will benefit anyone who reads it.
Finally, a book that answers lifes questions. For years I tried to find the answers in schools and churches. What a waste of a life. If you have questions like, "why am i here, whats the point or purpose, etc.", and you are sick and tired of hearing, " it's a mystery!, Nobods knows!" than I STRTONGLY recommend this book. It will show you how to unleash the power you have inside of you. Some people would rather keep the blindfold on, and believe there are no answers, and that you cannot control what happens to you. I am not one of them, this book not only changed my negative attitude and outlook on like, but it also hepled me realize what I want, how to get it, and how to make things happen. It changed who I am, because now I know the point, and the object of this game called life.

The continuous law of attraction
You know how you can meet someone for the first time and forever be stuck with the first impression of either liking them or hating them. This is the basic premise for the law of attraction which is The Secret. We are attracted to others (people and things) and others are attracted to us that match our vibration. This vibration has been refered to by many names: feelings, aura, energy, intuition, etc. So whether it's The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, The Law of Attraction by Esther & Jerry Hicks, or the Circle by Laura Day, you are going to get the same results! These are all good practical books written on the same subject, just by different authors. No matter which you pick up you are sure to start attracting what you want most in life. My best advice to you is this: if you like the practical approach of Holy Blood/Holy Grail by Michael Baigent et al, then any one of the law of attraction books should work for you. However, if you prefer the upbeat fictional version the Davinci Code by Dan Brown then you will want to pick up Gods or Monsters by Shalex Beckwith.

Highly Recommend
I recommend that you read this book first before any other of the Esther Hicks, Jerry Hicks books. This book explains the foundation of which all other Hicks' books are written.
This book is easy to read, clear and specific. If you really want to be happy, understand your life and others around you, this book will give you the answer.2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Good Book
Overall, this is a good book. I enjoyed The Secret by Rhonda Byrne way better. Nonetheless, this book is motivational, inspirational, and theraputic in a spiritually conscious way. I believed in the Laws of Attraction prior to reading this book. Therefore, this book only provided me with another angle of the same view.

Seems like a stretch
It made some good points and it was easy to read, but I feel that it lacks scientific reasons as to how it really works. Opposites attract in real life, not likes. It was entertaining, though. I left looking for more concrete reasons.

Create Your Own Life Experience Using The Laws Of The Universe
Long before the film and book phenomenon The Secret, Esther and Jerry Hicks were teaching the Law of Attraction. The Law traces back to Biblical times and states that you create your own experience in this lifetime through your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations. Compiled into one volume, The Law of Attraction provides the basics of the teachings of Abraham, a non-physical spiritual entity that Esther Hicks claims to channel from the astral realm.
Regardless of your belief in channeling, the information provided in The Law of Attraction is time-tested, accurate, and immensely uplifting. The book opens with brief essays by Esther and Jerry, explaining how they came to understand the Law and how Esther first became a channel for Abraham.
Every great idea and occurrence in the physical realm started as a thought. If you want something as part of your experience, you must think that you will have it, expect to receive it, believe that you will receive, and then allow yourself to receive it. The Law works for both wanted and unwanted things, so you must guard your thoughts carefully and focus only on those experiences or things you want to have. Creativity is the greatest divine gift to humanity, and Abraham explains that those who have found material prosperity in this life are more adept at understanding the Law of Attraction and using it to their advantage.
The teachings of Abraham may be difficult for those raised through traditional orthodox religions, especially the Catholic faith. Reincarnation and mysticism are dealt with directly and undoubtedly. Additionally, some may find it difficult to accept the more challenging concepts included here. Abraham suggests that illness, crime, and even sexual assault, while not necessarily intentionally manifested, are all the result of a consciousness of fear. Per the teachings, the world's most devastating conditions along with the most debilitating of human ailments can be healed with a shift in consciousness and belief.
The Law of Attraction is one of the most written about topics in modern new age and metaphysical literature. Proven time and again, one would be wise to understand various perspectives of the Law, shift toward an attitude of positivity and expectation, and create his or her own life experience. Unfortunately, Esther and Jerry Hicks lean toward the materialistic side of the Law, as do many modern metaphysical texts, including The Secret. More spiritual texts discuss the manifestation of material abundance as a natural byproduct of giving generously and living life as an evolutionary process through positive thought. The Hicks texts suggest that by focusing on the material (money and cars being discussed frequently), those objects will become manifest.
The Law of Attraction, while lacking in spirituality, serves as a fascinating and thorough introduction to the Law. A resource that can be referred back to time and again so as to maintain a positive attitude of expectancy, success, and abundance, it is a valuable addition to any self-help or metaphysical library.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Original
I am almost blind in my left eye, which makes reading very difficult. The CD version worked best for me. This was the very first book on the law of attraction, and I believe that it is the best. Listening to Abraham was hearing a message from the Angels, or God. Unless the book is totally fake, without years of positive meditation, and connecting to the other side, this is as close as it gets to hearing the real thing. I highly recommend it. I also recommend in CD, The Best of Doreen Virtue

A joy-based philosphy of practical spirituality
There is no religious dogma associated with this book. The authors have "connected" with a group consciencenous and if you can get by this the message is worth hearing. This group, "Abraham", gives explanations/causes/guidelines/practices regarding our reason for life here on Earth and how to enjoy who we are and make the most of it.
There is no requirement to drop existing beliefs; however, this group consciencenous, "Abraham", is telling us that our focus and rewards should be in the present. We should be happy about obtaining our rewards before we die and not after, loving yourself first conquers all and suffering never enters the picture unless we want it to. Orthodox positions don't fly here.
It is a very positive book and if you widen your religious horizons and take them all the way to the cosmos and drop most of them off there and not get too stuck on terminology you will find base similarities to a lot of denominations/religions that suggest that if you have a good heart, wish and look for the good in others and situations, be positive about life in general, stay focused and don't live by default - you will go far.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Good
I read Rhonda Byrnes "The Secret" before I read this one. Both are very good. I feel that I liked The Teachings of Abraham a little better. But the two books combined give you different ways at looking at the same spiritual principles. I would caution about focusing on material goals, as well as narcissism. But there are always going to be hurdles and potential downfalls within any ideology or set of beliefs. One just has to take what they feel good about from the material and leave the rest behind. Anyone idealistic and/or self sufficient/assured, should enjoy this book. It takes a whole different point of view than traditional belief as to how we experience what we experience in our life.

strange
I read this book expecting to find a different view on how to see things. Instead I found this book to be really strange and kind of creepy! Transitioning into someone like a spirit is weird. I have a hard time believing this could truly happen.

The Law of Attraction - not attractive!
The main character of the book - Abraham - was too unbelievable and/or mystical for me. The advice given by this mystical/mythical character is not revolutionary in any sense - just elaboration on common sense. I had asked a loved and respected family member to recommend a book appropriate for an 18 year-old, and this was recommended. After reading the book I did not recommend it to the 18 year-old in question. The Abraham character puts a lot of emphasis on intense concentration on anything you really, really want - an idea that I did not feel was particularly helpful. I would not recommend this book, particularly to an 18-year old.
