    Surprise read

Road trip, a foul mouthed bird, a slight detour, sexy doctor and a bookstore boss and you got a surprising read. Never heard of this book before and wasn't sure what to expect per say. But found myself liking the descriptions, the quirky characters. Was a little surprised at times and near the end it felt like something was missing, the epilogue to be precise. The photography aspect reminded me of another with similar themes called Hold Still by Nina LaCour. More like a 4.5 rating for this one. But still a good read.

    Good read

Liked the cover and title so picked this book up - fun and interesting characters, love the town it took place in - would like to live someplace like that. the main character, Maeve is outgoing and courageous and just a tad neurotic. Good book that i would recommend to friends

    Leaving Unknown by Kerry Reichs

    Leaving Unknown: A Novel
    By Kerry Reichs
    Published by Avon

Leaving Unknown is a journey of self-discovery for Maeve Connelly. Impetuous, headstrong and quirky, Maeve craves a new life in a new town, far, far away from her past.

Throwing caution to the wind, Maeve, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, jumps in her old Roadrunner, Elsie, and heads west for sunny Los Angeles, CA. Traveling across the country, Maeve is sidelined more than once with car trouble. Delay's however, bring growth, awakening and insight to her world of self-alienation.

Entertaining and sometimes poignant, Leaving Unknown is about coming to terms with your past, accepting yourself for who you are and learning to live with that. Well paced with endearing characters and locals, this second novel from Kerry Reichs was diverting. Unfortunately, an overabundance of unnecessary swearing cheapened the experience for me.
