If you grew up in Beirut then here is how to visit home again!
In the US one finds significant differences in lebanese food. The real problem is that many cooks vary the ingredients to appeal to the US palate. Unfortunately this leads to disappointment for those of us that grew up on the real stuff...not so subtle flavors that set the freshness apart such as mint and rose water. Also, many have had their palates ruined by thinking that the hummus and taboleh they get in health food stores is in some way related to middle-eastern food. Yuk! This book provides a way to use measures and achieve excellent results that taste like home. I have to order another copy after wearing out the first one!Was this review helpful?
