Another Solid Estleman
I suspected the killer long before Walker did and I thought the resolution was a little weak. Those flaws aside, I think it is time to consider ranking the Walker series as the best PI stories written by an American. Estleman just writes to entertain, even as he makes shrewd observations about Detroit. He never writes the same story twice, unlike Ross Macdonald and James Lee Burke, for instance. He can write Westerns, historical crime novels, and some books that are hard to pigeonhole. An Estleman novel is usually a good bet.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Gas City remains my favorite Loren D.Estleman novel. Left-Handed Dollar is a low key affair, at least compared to some of today's blockbusters. It's an interesting tale, but has more of a TV movie of the week feel to it than that of a nicely researched and cleverly written novel. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
