Mary's book is a well written account of her experiences as a child actor on The Waltons and life after the series. It has a lot of great behind the scenes stories about the cast and meeting other actors that worked at the studio. Her story of her father's illness is very touching. I highly recommend the book.

Lessons Learned?

Morgan's review is one I must agree with. The book is not a tell-all, but a "feel-sorry-for-me-ya'll." Mary has contributed her acting to a very good television show and entertainment experience, but the main "lesson from the mountain" that should have been learned, is that life is not fair, and not to expect everyone will like us. I read this book and had to wonder, why Mary has persisted in a career, that obviously stopped working after "The Waltons" ended it's run. Other reviewers here look at this book from a biased angle, and think that a well-liked celebrity can do no wrong. If you read "Lessons From The Mountain".......... you'll find out otherwise.

Meh... Disappointed, to say the least. The title is deceiving as she gives us very few actual "lessons." I got very tired of reading about her implants and kept hoping for more stories related to actually being a part of the Walton's cast/family. Don't buy the book if that's what you're looking for. It's just not there..

Highly recommended - Buy it now!!!!

In this book Mary tells her story & shows that she is a real person & has real feelings. There were so many things I could relate to in her childhood & adult life. She helped to explain a disease that a lot of people don't know a lot about or understand (Lupus & fibromyalgia). She shows you not all actors & actresses are "all about me". My 17 year old daughter is an avid reader. Now that I have finished the book I am going to pass it on to her. Hopefully she will then understand what it's like for me to live with these diseases every day. This book is not only for Walton's fans & Mary's fans, everyone can learn something from this.
