    Horrible!

When I first heard Avril's song 'Complicated', I just had to get this CD. I figured she would be a pretty good singer. I WAS SO WRONG! This was the worst CD ever! The only two songs I listen to are complicated and Skator Boi. The rest stink! Avril is so inappropriote, and such a lousy singer. I don't understand what her fans see in her. She is the worst person alive today! Do us all a favor, Avril, and give up your terrible singing career.

    I Don't Like It - I've Heard Better

Her accent is too strong, and the music is droll. I don't like it.

    SHES NOT THAT GREAT!!!

Avril Lavigne is a POSER!!!!! some of her music is original, but mostly it's just POSING!!!!! she is NOT a punk, but dresses like shes a skater punk!!!! she is way over-hyped, and I think that if she moved away from the "Im so tough, im so cool" then it would be an improvement. I'm not saying she should be like Britney Spears, NO WAY!!!!! but she shouldn't pretend to be a punk if her music is more like pop!

    sort of misleading

When I first heard 'Complicated' I figured there was finally a chick in the punk/pop scene that writes her own stuff and would even play her own instrument... the video for the song suggests it, even. A few days later, I heard 'Sk8er Boi' and was equally impressed... But then I bought the CD and was disappointed. It's not what I expected. the rest of the songs are typical angry-punk-girl-goes-pop. With this CD, she is, or even should be catering to more Britney Spears fans than anything else.

    Maybe in a few years....

Avril has talent, if you dig deep enough. Just look past the rather simplistic melodies, almost childish lyrics ("till you chose weed over me you're so lame," "we rock each others' world," etc.), and desperate attempts to seem "real" despite obviously having at least a semi-manufactured image. Despite her "alternative" image, buying your clothes at Hot Topic does NOT make you different or alternative, and neither does posing with a guitar or skateboard every once in a while. Aside from her image, the music is somewhat predictable for a teen star-easily digested pop/rock. "Sk8er Boi" is a catchy punk-pop songs and easily the most energetic cut on the record, but the lyrics are so immature that I almost laughed upon hearing them. "Naked" showcases a rare vunerable side of Avril, and also a (slightly) more mature style of songwriting. Most of the album focuses on "you can't change me" themes, much like Pink, although without the years of experience in various forms of music that Pink has. The occasional remarks branding Avril Lavigne as the "Pink for tots" border on accurate, because for an album made by a 17 year-old it is remarkably light on the profanities and anything that could possibly offend anyone. Avril's music may not be reaching into any new territory, but she is a few steps ahead of Britney, Christina, and all of the other "teen queens" (or whatever the term for them is this week), in that she does (on rare occasions) play guitar, and that she co-writes her songs. The possibility does exist for her to create a good album. When she learns to express herself in a mature and intelligent manner Avril could become a serious songwriter/musician, instead of just pre-packaged "alternative" teen fodder.

    They call her NICE?!?!

I have to admit, she's good, but her attitude sucks! I met her twice & she didn't even sign one autograph or shake one hand! She thinks too high of herself, she doesn't like barely any truly talented singers, she wants to have her so-called ''fans'' consider her band & her a GROUP! Ha! Avril, give some respect... PLEASE!
