A gripping story of love, grief, revenge and healing! I'm a total fan of Vanessa Grant's love stories, so was enthralled by her latest book, Lifelines: Kate's Story, a longer Women's Fiction title. In it, Grant explores the multiple layers of emotion of a newly widowed woman and her family. The main character, Kate, a mother, daughter, new widow and lover, heals from the losses life throws at her while regaining the essence of who she once was and who she needs to be in the future. Helped by her dog Socrates (who is as wise as he is protective) Kate strives to keep the people she loves safe and in the process faces her own fears. She combats the emotional and physical danger in this story with strength, wisdom and determination, and in the process kept me on the edge of my seat.

Good read about a widow re discovering herself and relationships with others. There is an interesting plot twist/ conflict, yet some points seem to drag on.

Lifelines: Kate's Story is a fantastic tale of one woman's journey after her husband's death. Add in a struggling daughter and a slightly crazy mom, and Kate's troubles are multiplied. Add a good, honest man suffering through a dead marriage and you have a recipe for a great read. The ending was fast-paced and heart-stopping! I recommend this book to all lovers of women's fiction!
