    Darker, edgier, and fantastic!

The third book in the series, this can easily be read as a stand-alone. Familiar characters are present, but Avet focuses on Malachi, an intriguing secondary character from the previous books, and Lani, a new addition.

This book is decidedly darker and edgier than its predecessors. Both primary characters are burdened with shadowy pasts and deep physical and emotional scars. Avet writes their characters very well: cold and calculated on the outside, with deep emotion just barely hidden. Their separate journeys towards healing and seemingly impossible redemption are gripping and heart-wrenching. Thrown together by circumstance, their romance has heat and unmistakable lust, but their improbable union has an undertone of desperation: it may be the only thing that can save them.

This book has the series’ usual action, intrigue, romance, and still a bit of humor, but Avet shows her dark side, and the result is a fantastic read.

    A Beautiful and Sexy Story

The story of Shade and Malachai is so beautiful, it is impossible to put the book down. Fairy assassin for the Etruian army, Shade is cold and bitter, able to kill without hesitation. When assigned to remove Malachi, a former general desperate to reclaim his life in the Veil, a brand new adventure begins. The emotional ride that these two take together through lust, passion, betrayal, forgiveness and love is so intense, you can feel every moment, laughing and crying right alongside them. With artfully drawn characters and a trademark sharp wit, Avet has created characters you can’t help but love and a romantic journey that will make your heart sing. This third book in her Veil series is guaranteed to thrill and delight.

    Avet continues to amaze

When the story opens up we are right back in the midst of the war against the Eutarians. The detailed progression of the relationship between Malachi and Lani from guarded and cold to lifetime mates was perfect. With her usual talent for description, Avet adds twists and turns, keeping the reader interested and on the edge of their seat. That is not to say that the entire book is all doom and gloom. Giving us lust, passion the quest for redemption and our favorite Veilorian Amazons with their unique blend of fierceness and comic relief, the characters are skillfully developed with an easy to follow growth that builds from book to book in this series. Although it could be read as a stand-alone, the building of plot and characters does continue through each book in the series and I would suggest reading them all.

    OUTSTANDING AND BRILLIANT WRITING!

First let me say this is one of the most exciting books I have read this year. Danica you wrote this book with readers like me in mind. The writing was excellent, smooth, and easy to associate one's self with. The characters were well developed and I loved their rolls within the story. The excitement and suspense of the story kept me glued to each line as the climax of the story got closer and closer - Warning - you will not want to put this book down.
The story between the Veil and the Eturian worlds will grab your interest right away as good overcomes evil or should I say love conquers all. The romance and erotic sense between Shade (Fey) and Malachi (vampire and demon) was totally awesome and so HOT! Actually the sex scenes were so thrilling and intense I could feel it right down to my core and the language fore play had me squirming in my seat.
The interaction between the other characters was fun and had me laughing out loud - I love them Amazon women and If the Amazon world still existed I would definitely be a member. However, there were other scenes that were torturously gruesome and shocking that brought out my emotion of hatred and was so happy that in the end revenge was bitter sweet - I was like take that you cock sucker.
Though this was the 3rd installment of a series the book could stand as a stand-alone. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I will definitely be reading them now along with any future book Danica Avet writes. This was such a fun read and I could go on and on how great this book is but it would take forever so the best thing to do is go buy it and READ IT!
    EXCELLENT READ!
