These guys know how to rock

For anybody who loves good 60s-era hard rock, especially live performances, this album is for you. It's hard to find a better three-piece group than the James Gang, and this album proves that their true power came out on stage. Joe Walsh has always been a favorite guitarist of mine, and he doesn't disappoint here, and both Dale Peters and Jim Fox provide a stable, yet perfectly active, rhythmic floor (both of their solos on "Lost Woman" are excellent). The live version of "Stop" here is a vastly superior version than the rambling 10-minute studio version, which wanders around but never really gets anywhere. Here it is tight and crisp; it almost kicks you in the face to get your attention. The two organ driven songs, "Take a Look Around" and "Tend my Garden" are both testaments to Joe Walsh's immense talent as a musician and not just guitarist. And then, of course, comes "Walk Away," one of my favorite songs of all time. The version here varies a little from the studio version, but the inclusion of a bridge and pre-chorus allow Fox to really expand and drive the song. I would recommend this album to anybody who likes to rock, period.
