WOW! Decorators' dream and not bad for a bride, either!
My florist handed me this book when I said that I wanted brightly colored flowers in my wedding... I was inspired by page after page of lush photos, complete with lists of the pictured flowers (so many books don't tell what is in the arrangement) and alternate flowers you can use to attain a similar color effect. I found my bouquet in a tropical arrangement on page 17... rich reds and yellows, texture, character, variations... but I loved the book so much I wished I could plan several additional weddings just to play with some of Pryke's other fun floral concepts! The book includes a section on seasonal colors, as well as the top decorating colors and corresponding flowers. While I don't necessarily agree with her top color choices, I know I could draw heavily from this book if I chose to use those colors in decorating or other floral endeavors. The only downside to this book is that the flowers are often named by the genus/species, rather than a popular name (Gloriosa rothschildiana or gloriosa superba rather than gloriosa lily). This can make it somewhat difficult to identify flowers, but overall this does not detract significantly from the aesthetic and functional value of this book. Was this review helpful?
