Excellent Reference Book [for all readers]
After checking this book out at our local library, I found that it served as such an invaluable reference manual for one's home. Many books are better from the library than purchase, but this one is different for a few notable reasons.
1) A straight-forward how-to book for many household, garden and life subjects. Unless you have a photographic memory, you might like to have flagged a few pages for future reference. I am an avid recycler, but every county in America is different with respect to which materials are accepted by local refuse authorities. Having this chart will keep things simple!
2) Ed and his wife approach every-day aspects of environmental action with a fresh approach - do what you can and what makes sense for YOU. He also makes great pictorial barometers on each task to represent various investment [fiscal/time/personal energy] factors. Love the visual meter!
3) Enjoyable and realistic for all aspects of life: travel, health, home, garden, beauty, philanthropic, scientific and more. As a critical and savvy reader, I rarely find myself impressed by much, but this book should be a staple in all environmentally friendly homes.

How to start to be green
This is one of those books out of thousands that's shows you how to be green from the beginning or simple ways to the tougher more money ways to be fully green. If allot of people tired to go green the easy way they will see the savings build up along the way. This is a great companion to the "Living with Ed" TV show which is now shown on Discovery's Planet Green channel. You will be amazed at whats good for you in your house and whats bad for your house.

Great Tips on Greening Your Life
I bought this book because I enjoy the HGTV show, Living with Ed. The reality show features Ed Begley, Jr. and his wife, Rachelle Carson. The two of them and the show are clearly authentic, funny and intelligent. Begley is genuinely committed to the environment for the sake of the planet. Rachelle epitomizes what is the reality for most of us--you want to be kind on the environment, but you also want to live in a comfortable, beautiful home. The same commitment to the environment that is evident on the reality TV show comes across in Living Like Ed. It's obvious that Begley gets his 'kicks' from not only using eco-friendly products, but on saving money as well. Saving money while being green is an important concept, as many of us are under the impression that 'eco-friendly' equals 'expensive'. This is not the case, and this book will teach you how live a green lifestyle and save some bucks.
