Truly American Literature!
There are so few books that African Americans can claim as literature. This is definitely literature. Her words create such a vivid mental picture. She truly uses her talent to take you on an emotional roller coaster. One minute you loathe Cleo(the main character) for her conniving and manipulation and the next you feel utter compassion for her.
