    Through muck and mud maigret slogs to truth

    at first it seems hopeless because there is so little to work with, but maigret persists. ser along the locks of a river system where people are coming and going and few know each other maigret has to bring magic to his detecting and lots of leg work..like riding a borrowed bike 25 miles in one day in pouring rain while stopping to question people. this story illustrates some of the downsides to detect work, and the story line is intricate and the solution totally unexpected. a must read for maigret fans.
