Good storyline with a godly, Christian perspective

God, trust, hope and love undergird this story. It provides encouragement and belief in God's plan-holy and best-for our lives.

In the quiet safety of the Bluebird Ranch, old promises resurface and unexpected love brings new hope. Though tragedy has wrecked her life, Allie Siders holds on to the hope that her five-year-old daughter, Betsy, will speak again. But with a stalker out for revenge, all Allie can think about now is their safety. She must sever all ties and abandon life as she knows it. She heads to the peaceful Bluebird Ranch, nestled deep in Texas hill country, and to the only person who can help them. The ranch is a sanctuary for abused horses, and also for troubled youths: the perfect place for Betsy to grow and recover. Ranch owner Elijah DeAngelo eagerly welcomes the duo. But Rick Bailey-the ranch foreman and DeAngelo's right hand man-hasn't decided to let his guard down . . . yet. Promises made long ago soon force Rick and Allie to work together to escape danger. Will they discover love along the way? My Review - This book was pretty good. I don't know what I was expecting from it when I first started reading it. I got this book on my Nook (Herbie) back in February for free and I hadn't thought much about it. But it was good. I loved the story of Allie and Rick and Elijah for that matter. Betsy was cool too. I figured out some of the details before they were revealed but some I didn't have a clue about. And I was definitely wrong about the person who was after Allie. I will be reading the next book in the series but it probably won't be the next book I read, just cause I have so many other books on my Nook to read already.

    more from this reviewer

    Couldn't finish it...

Smoothly written and edited, and yet I couldn't connect to the characters at all, and I've read and enjoyed western and contemporary Christian stories (had to read reviews to see that this was considered 'Christian themed' so please forgive if I'm off-base there). The author revealed very little in the way of likable/empathetic qualities in the main characters initially; each character's flaws and/or trials were shown quickly and reasons for their trials were unclear. Perhaps this was meant as a part of the 'mystery'. I generally like mysteries, and yet I found myself struggling with how the 'mystery' presented here. This book failed to 'hook' me in the first chapter or two- disappointing, given the reviews-- I thought I'd like the book.
