There is a Reason I Fish
And Thomas McGuane describes it in an elegant way in The Longest Silence. One must read the book as a whole to understand what it's all about. I read these essays one at a time at bedtime. It was difficult to pace myself that way, but the experience lasted longer. One night I was in Russia with the author, learning what a spey rod is, and another I was in the Florida Keys - one of my favorite places, even today - chasing permit on the flats. This book will resonate with fisherman like the remembered feeling of a tight line.
