God used this book to draw me back to a life of glory only to Him, and can do the same for so many others. I recommend this book to EVERYONE!

So first of all, I'd like to inform you all that I am a GUY that read this book. And a teenage guy at that. And to be quite honest, until recently, I would have never even thought about picking up a Bailey Flanigan book. I would not have been caught dead reading a romance book in a house full of boys (except for my lovely mother, of course). But my mom had been talking excessively about these books for A WHILE, and I could not help but be interested. I borrowed the first of this series from my mom just to glance through it and immediately became hooked. The story was the best I've ever read and literally brought me to tears. It made me realize what a life in service to Christ is really meant to look like. I had not exactly had the most intense relationship with God, but He used this book as a tool to bring me back to Him. My relationship with my family has grown INCREDIBLY this past month, after reading the Bailey Flanigan books. Also, right before I read this series, I had just gone through an extremely difficult break-up with my girlfriend of nearly a year. God used this series to heal me in this time of sorrow, gave me the courage to forgive this girl(and to also ask for her forgiveness in some things), and provided me with a much greater understanding of what it takes to be in a godly relationship and marriage, when that time comes in my future. But best of all, I am developing a much deeper relationship with my Savior. I have recommitted to serving my God and living a life of glory to ONLY Him at all times, no matter the circumstance. I thank God for giving me this tool to bring me to my knees and to steer me back into a life of complete devotion to HIM always. I thank Mrs. Karen Kingsbury for writing these stories that God uses to touch thousands of people, and for painting this picture of a life made for Christ, that so many of us need. And i thank my mom for letting me borrow this book and for being such a godly positive influence in my life, along with my dad and the rest of my family. I recommend this book to anyone who is in need of a powerful relationship with a mighty Savior... that is EVERYONE!

I was really disappinted with Longing and how Karen has taken this series.
For one-Brandon. Ever since he became a Christian, he's been too perfect. No struggles with girls and drinking like before. He's had almost no character building. His endless supply of money allows him to fly across the country to see Bailey almost anytime he chooses, and also makes so he never has too sacrifice anything for her. He hasn't been able to prove whether he'll be true in the bad times like he is in the good.
Bailey is also too perfect. Her hardest decision is choosing between 2 guys who absolutely adore her. Her choosing rich Hollywood heart throb Brandon over Cody whom she has so much history with and has had lots of struggles to strenghten his character, seems a little shallow. It is said that a girl looks for a guy like her dad. Cody couldn't be more like Jim Flanigan if he tried. He also truly loves Bailey and not just the idea of her like Cheyenne says he is.
Cheyenne had no right telling Cody that Bailey is not the right girl for him. That was for Cody to decide after seeking God's will.
The author has practically taken Bailey's "fiction" story, and turned it into her daughter Kelsey's real life story. Karen has lost the line between the 2.
Even though I didn't like Longing too well, I will say this. Karen has written a captivating story that kept me turning pages. If Bailey marries Brandon, in my heart she marries Cody!! TEAM CODY FOR EVER!!!!

    more from this reviewer

Great continuation of story, mixed feelings!

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Karen Kingsbury's highly anticipated new book, Longing. This aptly titled novel is book number three in the Bailey Flanigan series, and one that I have been itching to get my hands on since I stayed up all night to finish the previous installment. Let's just say that I stayed up way too late finishing this one as well. Kingsbury has a way of writing characters that wrap you around their fingers, making you care deeply about their fictional lives. After reading every single book in the Baxter series I have an investment in the love story between Bailey Flannigan and Cody Coleman, and Longing finally took a definitive step towards the future of their angst filled relationship. To say that it is a step I am conflicted about would be a gross understatement.

Because this is an advanced review and the book does not officially release until November 22nd, I don't feel like I can fully explore the direction Kingsbury takes Longing. I do not want to ruin the story, or even reveal any of the little surprises that pepper the book from beginning to end. I do feel the need to point out that I was ultimately a little disappointed in this novel. I'm afraid Team Cody might not even been in the game anymore. Maybe my heart broke a little, even though all the characters seemed to reach resolutions they were happy with. I just wasn't happy with them, not yet anyway. But, Brandon's character has won over Bailey, he's won over Karen Kingsbury,
and maybe by the end of this series he will win over me.

Of course, there is still one more book until Bailey, Cody and Brandon's story is ultimately complete. The final installment, Loving, is due out early next year. It goes without saying that I will be counting the days.

Disclosure of Material: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

    It is good.

I have to say i like the book and i could not put it down but i really don't like feeling like the baily and brandon are going to be another dane and katy type story. And i like cody better than brandon.i dont know i am kind if feeling like baily should just focus on god and not worry about a relationship right now.

    Love Karen's books

I have been a fan of Karen Kingsbury's books for many years now. When she started the Bailey Flanigan series, I really enjoyed it, as it was a change in her normal style and focused more on younger ladies, rather than grown ups. As for "Longing", there are definitely twists that you wouldn't expect, and situations you wouldn't be able to predict the outcome. I do have to say that I am a "Team Cody" fan, and would love to see Bailey and Cody together, but it's not my story to write! :) I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading "Loving", as well! Thank you Karen for using your gift to write Christian books!

A must read...as all of her books are!!!

I Loved this book and savored every page. I laughed and cried it was very heart touching. It makes you look at your life and take inventory of the people and things that you may take for granted. Also makes you understand that Gods grace is sufficent each and every day. We may not understand our journery but realize that our creator has a master plan and will never put more on us than we can bear with his help and grace. We Will make it!!! This book was a fabulous read as all of Karen's books are!!
