Superbly written, engrossing book!
I love this book and have been passing my copy around to all my friends. It's very engaging, Ms Egan does a brilliant job wryly commenting on our strange society and bizarre obsessions. She deconstructs americans with more intelligence and humor than Douglas Coupland ever could. She's on equal footing with the early John Irving (World according to Garp), but definitely has her own distinct voice. Really brilliant.

Well worth the read
I loved this book . If you enjoy a journey into the discovery of a character you have many to choose from. From the main character Charlotte and all her flaws asthe only world she know starts crumbling around her, to her namesake who is jyst beginning self discovery and learning that everyone wears a differnt face. I especially loved Moose whose journey although similar to Charlotte's took such a different turn. Then finally the end where all the threads are weaved together so beautifully

Beautifully written, utterly absorbing
I discovered this author during a conversation about great contemporary American authors. I'm so glad I did. Her social observational powers are formidable, her commentary scathing. Unusually, her characters were just about uniformly interesting, while differing from each other significantly. Although the first half was more fun to read, the second half was also more important and thought-provoking. I disliked how uncomfortable some of it made me, and that means the author hit home!

Excellent Vocabulary, Insightful
I recently found this author, and I am amazed at her literary abilities. She is an excellent writer with strong vocabulary and character development. Jennifer Egan must be an insightful person herself given the psychology behind her characters. I will admit it did lose a bit of steam at the end, but I still very much enjoyed this bizarre tale of broken individuals.

you've got to be kidding me...
i was so disappointed in this book. it started off pretty good but then got kind of strange. i only finished it to get some kind of closure or explanation to the characters. i about died when it ended--waste of time!

Huh???
The beginning of this book grabbed me and I really enjoyed it, but by the end I was literally skimming the pages just to finish it. I never understood the character of Moose. The author kept describing this 'vision' that he had but it was never clear to me. Also, I really thought that Z would have more of a finalization in the story tying together with Halliday and the elder Charlotte. This never happened. From the middle of the book to the end, I grew increasingly more disappointed. I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Idenity
I chose to read this book for a school project. My topic is the sturggle people have with their idenity. This book is a great support for my thesis. Both Charlotes are very complex and strange within themselves. I enjoyed the debth the characters had and how they ended up so intertwined in the end. Over all the book was good. It did not take long to read. I was not to interested in the character Moose, however I can see his relevence in the text. I would worn other readers that the book can get somewhat graphic, but I think it adds to the characters and their search for themselves. Although the novel will be very useful as a recourse for my paper, I wish the story line had more suspence and suprises. Over all though I the book was good. I would recomend this book to anyonelooking for a story that gives the indepth look of a well thoughtout group of characters.
