    Leave the Goose Home

I really loved the first two Dusty Deals Mysteries, and was thrilled to see a third pop up on my Nook. I finally finished it, though there were several times I wanted to give up. I am glad I did though, as Rae redeemed herself towards the last third of the book. What I love about Lucy (no pun intended) is that she is quirky, smart and courageous. What I HATED about this was that one of my favorite characters was so intimidated by her domineering mother!!! I mean really, a grown woman making a spectacle of herself to avoid her mother reading something on the internet? I know it's supposed to be funny, but it infuriated me. And yes, her brother is a kook, but he is her brother, and you shouldn't need a guilt trip from mama to try to prove him innocent! The goose was an animal version of her mother, and I felt very unbelievable, and NOT likeable. AND the main flaw of this installment, is that Peter is a footnote! Heavens, that scenario of a ditzy heroine softening the heart of a hardboiled detective is a draw. I don't want explicit sex, which is another reason why I read Rae's books, I want to read about a solid relationship! The fact that Peter was married to Rodeo Glamor Queen and now loves/likes Lucy, is a major, major part of selling books. My husband calls me Lucy, because I am a ditz, but a smart ditz, which is why I love our heroine.... my version of Peter is very much like hers. Sometimes he looks to the heavens and says, "Why me?" but then he smiles, and I know we are fine. We like to read about the relationship!!!! And PETER is a great boyfriend, so let him be around more! The other characters are fine, as they are interesting and good backdrops for Lucy's antics. I will be happy to read another Dusty Deals mystery, but if Lucy doesn't stand up to her mother, I will pass.

    missed Peter

I enjoyed this one ss I did the other ones, the goose was fun even if not realistic but I missed Peter who is barely in it! I know him being a cop makes it hard but I wish that Lucy and Peter struggled with that TOGETHER!

Loved the book but would like to read more about peter and Lucy together or working on the fact he works more than anyone on the planet
