A fine novel about the election campaign that toppled the Pinochet regime. Easy Spanish.
I ordered this book after seeing the movie "No!" about the fall of the Pinochet Regime in Chile. I've only read a few chapters. However, even a few pages into the novel you see what living in a brutal dictatorship is like. In additional to politics, the novel riffs on Plato and philosophy as seen by teenagers, the uniforms favored by dictators, and other subjects with great humor. Despite the sophistication of the novel, the Spanish is not at hard (way easier than 100 Years of Solitude or Pedro Paramo, for example). I'm enjoying it a lot.Was this review helpful?
