London 1786-

Linnet St. Clare has gone to Sir Anthony Tait to ask for his help in taking Dominic Hunter into his household. Dominic, an orphaned butcher's son, was taken in by the Queen in hopes that he would give her sons a greater empathy with England's lower class. In fact, the opposite occurs and they tease and cruelly pick on him. Linnet sits down with Anthony and explains what has occurred and why she needs his help.

She comes upon Chloe Steel, the Reverend Steel's daughter, right after the fact of her being seduced by Prince Ernest in the gardens. Dominic comes upon them seconds later and they start to brawl with Dominic soundly trouncing the Prince. Linnet throws a bucket of water on the Prince to break them up and she boxes the Prince's ears telling him that if he speaks of this to anyone she will beat him within an inch of his life. Dominic and Chloe are best friends and he feels such guilt for not protecting her properly. With Anthony being the liaison for the Court and the Home Office, Linnet feels he can step in and get Dominic released from the Court and into his guardianship. Anthony agrees to help.

Anthony has had his eye on Linnet for some while now and wants to take her as a wife but Linnet stands firm in her wishes to remain a spinster. Her mother works for the Crown and Linnet takes care of her brother and sister while her mother is away. The attraction builds and she tries to deny it at every turn until a chance encounter in a study while they are both at a house party in the country. She finally gives in to her feelings and when Anthony begins to tell her their future plans, she gets enraged that he cannot even ask for her hand, but just expects it, and she storms out.

Weeks pass and they don't speak when suddenly in the middle of the night he hears banging on his front door. Linnet tells him that Chloe is pregnant and that her and Dominic have run off together. They leave to track them down and find them at an inn. Linnet and Anthony talk to them about the dangers of what they've done. Dominic would not be able to provide for them even if they made it to America and talk them into coming back home. Chloe's father is sending her to her uncle until the baby is born. Linnet and Anthony begin talking about marriage again when she tells him she can't marry because of her responsibilities and he makes it clear they will bring Amelia and Peter to live with them until her mother decides she's ready to leave her service to the Queen and come home.

The story ends with letters exchanged between Chloe and Dominic that sets the story up for the new four book series that follows, The Renegade Royals. Dominic Hunter's story continues in this series and I look forward to following him on his journey.

I loved the way all the characters interacted. I enjoyed watching Anthony on the prowl for what he wanted and smiled as he became truly frustrated at times with Linnet. I'm sure he wanted to go all caveman on her but held back for decency's sake. She, on the other hand fought her own self over her feelings. She couldn't get around him without blushing and felt she wasn't good enough for him. When these two finally came together, it was like taking a deep breath and releasing a happy sigh. This novella did not feel rushed at all and kept a pace that kept me happily in the story and eagerly awaiting the next book, Secrets For Seducing a Royal Bodyguard!

For the rest of the books one would have to buy.
I am not convinced I wanna buy.
Well written, good luck to the author. I dunno how well these books functions as baits to sell subsequent books but if anything, she does write well and deserves it.

As I posted earlier I don't enjoy historical romance novel that take place around 1786 but I loved Vanessa Kelly's 1st book in the Renegade Royal series. Linnet is such a MOM but in a good way. Anthony was the royals 24/7 for 365 days. It's a miracle he did drop dead before Linnet could overtake his stressful life. I really loved Dominic and Chloe and can't wait for their story. Griffin's book is next and I already love him!! I give this book 5 fingers up and 8 toes.

LOST IN A ROYAL KISS by Vanessa Kelly is an exciting Historical

LOST IN A ROYAL KISS by Vanessa Kelly is an exciting Historical Romance set in 1816 London. A novella. Prelude to "The Renegade Royals" and what a prelude. Ms. Kelly transports her readers to a time of ballrooms, royal courts with a few twists and turns. A quick, fast paced read. In "Lost in a Royal Kiss" we find Linnet St. Clare and Sir Anthony Tait at a loss on how to save a young boy's future. Young Dominic, is an orphan, raised with the royal children and is about to make a horrid mistake. Sir Anthony has the King's ear, and a powerful magistrate,so Linnet turns to him for help. Sir Anthony is clearly attracted to Linnet, but can he convince her to have a life of her own and stop worrying over everyone else's? You see her mother is governess to the royal children, which leaves Linnet to take care of her siblings. Matters of the heart is clearly the only way for Sir Anthony to gain Linnet's hand and heart. Together, they must save young Dominic from himself and making a horrid mistake, one which he will pay for the rest of his life. A great beginning to the Royal Renegade series. I can hardly wait to see what these young troublesome Princes have in store for us when they are all grown up. Ms. Kelly is a wonderful author who writes from the heart and with finesse. With engaging characters and an interesting storyline, what's not to enjoy. You never can tell where Cupid's arrow will land. A must read! This story is only 88 pages, but is packed full of enjoyment. Received for an honest review from the author and Net Galley.

A lovely introduction to a new series, Lost in a Royal Kiss was a fantastic historical romance novella. I really enjoyed reading this sweet novella. I absolutely loved it!

Linnet was a great heroine. She's very loyal to her loved ones and determined to do her duty to her family, even if she has to sacrifice what she wants. She was strong, determined, and clever. I really liked her. I thought she was great.

Anthony was also wonderful. He's absolutely determined to win Linnet over. He was very sweet, cunning, and truly kind. He was a true gentleman at heart. I adored him. I thought he was perfect.

The romance was sweet and spicy. Linnet and Anthony were perfect together. Both of them had been infatuated with each other for a while, so it was sweet seeing that emotion finally grow. And, there were certainly sparks between these two. They were definitely compatible in every way ;)

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. There was a ton of royal drama to keep me riveted. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. I can't wait to see more from this series.

Lost in a Royal Kiss was a brilliant historical romance novella. I absolutely loved it! It had sweet and steamy romance, royal drama and I enjoyed every bit of it. Lovers of romance, this something you'll definitely want to read.
