Excellent reference for those interested in Louisiana architecture!

I bought this as a gift for my sister, who is extremely interested in Louisiana architecture. She was extremely pleased with the information she found in the book, and considers it a valuable reference.

    Dean of Southern Architecture

In the postmodern period, most American residential architects have relied on formulaic predictability to mass produce uninspiring houses with little regard for locale and environment. Rather than focusing his energy on regurgitating these ephemeral MacMansions, Hays Town spent the last 40 years creating things of grace, beauty, and imagination with lasting artistry. Moreover, he's done so with a deeply abiding appreciation of and respect for Louisiana and it's rich architectural heritage, demonstrating a refinement that results from the realization that creative progressiveness results more gracefully from the realization that art and life do not exist in a chronological or cultural vacuum. This book is a fitting tribute to this architectural giant.

    A. Hays Town is an architect that others only strive to achieve to be. His use of raw materials and simple but breathtaking architecture is unmatched. We could all learn a lesson or two in architecture from his work. Growing up in Louisiana with an appreciation for the visusal is one thing but being able to appreciate his work for a lifetime is another.

    A. Hayes Town

After 27 years of marriage, and living in 9 states, my wife and I are now designing our dream home. We're using the page numbers from this book to design features we want in our next home. The pictures are outstanding. We've enjoyed being to three of the homes. This book is a must have for those serious about classic design, rich and warm, not ostentatious.
