All I can say is Jen ... what where you thinking???

How stupid do we think our children are? This kind of literary effluvia is an insult to mediocrity. As an avid reader of children's books and a picture book enthusiast, I regret the 6 minutes I wasted on this lazy attempt at children's literature. The storytelling is shallow and the writing is condecending to the reader's intelligence. Rather than actually go to the trouble of creating a coherent story and telling it in a consistent manner, the author has chosen to throw random, half-hearted attempts at poetry at the reader for no particular reason. Throughout this "book" there is no coherent rhyme scheme. Instead, it bounces between poetic prose and a plainer, more storytelling tone. That neither of these narrative tools actually produces a comprehensible or enjoyable story further annoys the reader. Indeed, this heinous attempt to create a character and book that children will love is a complete and utter failure.

Moving forward...the illustrations in this story are frightening and incosistent. The characters look vapid and unrealistic (aka deformed). It is a lazy attempt to incorporate digital illustration as an illustrative medium. My six year old not only could create better photoshopped artwork, she also commented, nay, screamed, "Mommy! What is that thing?! It scares me!" Frankly, I concur. Far from being lovable, the creatures that this lazy would-be-artist has created are a frankensteinian mish-mash of real and illustrated characteristics seemingly thrown together at random to create something that, while it is certainly NOT beautiful or endearing, is at least "unique."

In conclusion, not only is this book not something I would recommend, I consider it an affront to all REAL children's literature. That someone would publish and promote such an obviously inferior piece of tripe is depressing at best and horrifying at worst. Not only does this book scare children, it scares adults as well. I would encourage people to start reading other children's picture books, because if anyone thinks this ridiculously written picture book is worthy of having Jennifer Aniston as the read-aloud author, I have no idea what this world has come to. Open your eyes, my fellow readers. There are way too many amazing books to be read in this world to waste your time, not to mention your child's time, on a poorly constructed piece of trash that will make you both want to gouge your eyes out. I have wasted far too much time on this book already. I suggest you do not waste yours.

A Perfect Lesson! Often children's books portray a perfect lesso

A Perfect Lesson! Often children's books portray a perfect lesson that we want our kids to follow. Loukoumi's Good Deeds is just that as it makes our kids think about all the wonderful things they can do to make the world a better place for others. I love this book and its message. The CD narration is also a great addition including Jennifer Aniston's spirited narration and Gloria Gaynor's wonderful song Make Someone Smile! A true gem!

    A Masterpiece for kids!

This is a terrific book and CD for kids teaching them that they need to do good things for others. Since he read the book, my son had been talking about all the nice things he can do for everyone in his life. We listen to the book's CD daily and the book is a must at bedtime. On the book's website there is also a fun craft for kids where they can draw a picture for someone they love. In today's turbulent world, we need more books like Loukoumi's Good Deeds to show kids the importance of being nice!

An Excellent Lesson for Kids; A great book for all

As someone who reads a great deal of children's books to my kids, Loukoumi's Good Deeds is a true gem. This is one of the best books I have found in recent years because it combines a wonderful message with vivid illustrations and a CD narration by an exemplary all-star cast. The Aniston's are perfect together and the rest of the cast of characters including Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis and American Idol's Constantine Maroulis are amazing. Track 2 on the CD is equally as rewarding as it teaches kids that they do not need a lot of money to give the perfect gift, a lesson that needs to be told in today's material world. My daughter especially loves the song on the CD, Make Someone Smile by disco legend Gloria Gaynor. The upbeat song has simple yet powerful lyrics that reinforce the book's theme to a beat will stick in your head for days. This book is a must for any kids library and the best part of it all is that proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital ($2 from the sale of each book), a charity that is also to be commended for all the wonderful things they do for kids. You can't find a better package on the market today than Loukoumi's Good Deeds.

Does a great job of teaching children the value of doing something nice for others!

Loukoumi's Good Deeds is an inspiring children's book. I can highly recommend this book to anyone with children. Not only does it teach children the value of being nice and doing nice things, but also has great illustrations any child would enjoy. One of the best parts about this book is that it comes with a narration CD that features the voice of Jennifer Aniston, John Aniston, Constantine Maroulis and others.
