Thrilling I've read most of Bertrice Small's historical novels.
Thrilling
I've read most of Bertrice Small's historical novels. Her work is so erotic and emotionally vivid. This was one of the best. Cat has many adventures. Her time in court leaves the king obsessed with her, his unwilling mistress. Her attempt at taking revenge on the king only made her irresistable,
From there her adventures lead to another king, and then a harem. Cat will keep a fan's interest from begining to end. Her passion is vast, her will is strong, and her arrogance gets her in vast trouble.1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Spellbinding, Heart-wrenching, A Must Read!
Bertrice "Sunny" Small outdoes herself once again with another romantic, exotic and erotic novel. You will fall in love with Francis Hepburn, our Lord Bothwell and his undying love for Catriona, Countess of Glenkirk. But, as usual in Ms Small's novels, happiness does not come easy for our protagonists. First the King of Scotland wants Catriona as his mistress. Then there is the small fact that Catriona is still married (they thought her husband was dead!) To add the excitement, Lord Bothwell is running for his life (you'll have to read the book to find out why). Oh, and to add more spice to the broth, we have a jealous ex-lover of Lord Bothwell's who sells Catriona into a harem! Will she be able to escape from the Ottoman Empire to get back to Scotland to be with her true love? For a book filled with intrigue, murder, betrayal, love, lust, redemption the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, READ 'LOVE, WILD and FAIR".

best emotional read
I have never read a book more emotionally charged as this one. It made me laugh and cry and cry some more.It was so sad when cat and bothwell had to be seperated and did not know if they would ever see each other again. Boy did I cry then! I even truly felt sorry for Patrick (cats husband). What he did to cat was very, very wrong, but he was so very devastated and remorsefull and so in love with cat that I cried with him at one point.Heck I cried with them all!

THE ORIGINAL SCOTTISH HELLION
Janet Leslie is a know-it-all spoiled brat in this the first of a three book series. Raised by her doting father and a loving nursemaid, Janet was used to getting her way in all things except her engagement. Proclaiming herself to be in love with the heir to San Lorenzo, she begs her father to let her marry him. He does and all hell breaks loose. Kidnapped, she is wisked away to a land far from her friends and family with no hope of ever seeing them again. This book is stylish, well-written, historical and most of all intriguing. Betrice Small has found a jewel in this character and the same jewel was passed down to her graddaughter--Catronia Hay Leslie (the firebrand in the second book)and niece, Fiona Hay (the Hellion in the third). This is a historical phenomenon and whether it's the first of the Bertrice Small books or the tenth you read, this is a must to have in your romantic library.

As Always
Again another good read from Bertrice Small! I started reading her books in the 1990's with the Skye O'Malley series & have not been disappointed yet!

Moving...
When Bothwell and Cat had to leave the Gordons and it was the last time they were going to see each other (or so they thought) I cried. Ms. Small is a spectacular author and she quickly became my favorite.

It's not one of those books you'll read more than once.
I purchased this book because I had previously read Skye O'Malley. I was hoping that all of Bertrice Small's books would be as good, but was disappointed at Love, Wild and Free. It was good, I did finish it, but it was not nearly as good as I had hoped it would be.
