1300 + pages. I really enjoyed this book with the exception of 3 small things. While the heroine was an extremely STRONG woman (I loved that) she had a blind spot when it came to her fiance and seemed to be oblivious to his nature. Also I would have liked to see more details with the emotional developement between the heroine and her true love interest. Lastly the ending was WAY WAY too rushed and left the reader in limbo. Other than those I definately say give this book a read. Its worth the time and I plan to read more by this author

    Slow

Too slow for me. And I like a happy ending, cheesy as that is, and this book doesn't have one.

    Terrible

This book was way to detailed. No wonder there are over 1300 pages. I tried to give it a chance but after first 150 pages i was bored with the relationship of the main character and Nathan who she loves. Also very unbelieveable that a woman would suffer months of brutality and rape and then immediately find herself with feelings for man that "saves" her. I stopped reading this book after first 200 pages.

    Stupid heroine

Kitty is the most pig-headed, mule stubborn woman ever written about in a book. Most of the bad things that happen to her is brought on by her own stupidity. However it is a book worth reading especially if you like stories about the Civil War.

Great book very hard to put down. Be ready to be taken on a jour

Great book very hard to put down. Be ready to be taken on a journey through the Civil War and through both sides of it. We all know how the war turned out but this is so much more. Kitty is something else so headstrong and somewhat naive she is still a very remarkable woman. She sees her fair share of hell along her journey. Torn between the Confederate Soldier Major Nathan Collins and the Yankee Captain Travis Coltrane who will be there in the end?...I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what life throws in Kitty and her soldiers path next...
