    Quick easy read

A nice afternoon read. The characters are not very deep and the storyline is predictable but i still enjoyed it

Enjoyable read! Emily Stanton has turned 18 and it’s time

    Enjoyable read!

Emily Stanton has turned 18 and it’s time to join the ton and begin her husband search. She dances with many men at the Season’s balls, but her heart races around Connor Preston. She’s sure Connor is the one slipping love notes into her reticule, but when her father tells her to marry Ethan Richardson she’s sure her heart is broken. Or is it?

Well-written and fast-flowing with interesting characters, this is a nice short story. Emily is a bit too immature for my tastes, but it all works out in the end. I have to admit I favored Ethan over Connor from the beginning. I’m glad my gut wasn’t wrong.

    A 'Proper' Love Story

I have to say that there is something great about reading a novella. It's like fast food. It's a quick read, but still really good. Love by Secrets is a sweet, bite-size love story.

Emily is being wooed by the handsome Mr. Preston. He makes her feel so in love and on fire. She has only to wait for his marriage proposal . . . or so she thinks. When her future takes a sharp turn, she is devastated by the thought of being in a loveless marriage. The title 'Love by Secrets' is very appropriate for this tale.

I really liked the time period the book was set in. It reminded me of Pride & Prejudice in that regard. I think one of the appealing things about that era is the way love and marriage were viewed. Love and propriety create nice conflict for me in a story. And in this story there is alot of misunderstanding and naivete involved which makes it even better.

    Warning: Obtuse Heroine

This book was okay, but it took our heroine a lot of clues before she saw the true worth in Ethan. Worth 99c.

Predictable Plot and Almost Primer Style Writing

Love by Secrets has a good, if predictable premise, but the heroine spends most of the story pining after a shallow man that she thinks penned the love notes that mysteriously appear in her recticule after every ball she attends. When she finally realizes who wrote the notes she switches her affections in the bat of an eye, which doesn't come across as believable at all! It seems the author wanted a quick wrap-up to the story and that left this reader unsatisfied. Additionally, the writing style doesn't flow well in many places and often reads like the primer's I read in first and second grade.
