Captivating Story by a Great Writer

Love in a Torn Land is a mesmerizing book that one would not put down until he/she has read it from cover to cover. Ms. Sasson's magic in vividly depicting Joanna's experiences places you in her shoes: suffer when she and her family suffer, laugh and love with her, be passionate of the plight of her people. Suddenly, you are her! The cover picture of Joanna shows off her exotic beauty. I am glad the publisher used her photograph.

Love in a Torn Land is the biography of Joanna, a Kurdish lady who defied the odds and lived to tell about it. This is such an interesting book by Jean Sasson. It is a true story of war, violence, betrayal and love. The book also goes into wonderful detail about the Iran-Iraq war and how the Kurdish people were horrifically treated. There are many interesting and educational details included in this wonderful book, as well. Joanna's story is very motivational because she truly fought for what she believed in. She is such a strong and inspirational lady. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested in the Kurdish people or to anyone that enjoys fast-moving true stories and biographies.

    This was a great book.

The courage and strength displayed in this book is amazing. So hard to believe what these people go through to have a small bit of freedom.
