Arabella Darlington is forced into marriage to the Duke of Hawth

Arabella Darlington is forced into marriage to the Duke of Hawthorne by her father and when her husband dies, his nephew tries to force her to wed him.
Raymond Olivier, Earl of Pembroke is the man Arabella has always loved but he thinks she threw him over in order to marry a man with a higher title.
In desperation Arabella turns to Raymond to escape the evil "new" Duke of Hawthorne and finally be free from being used by the men around her.
Raymond still loves and wants Arabella but feels tremendous resentment for what he sees as her betrayal of him but cannot turn away from her when she needs his help. This story is richly drawn and pulls you into the emotional turmoil the characters are experiencing. I surprisingly liked Raymond's mistress in this tale and how she treated Arabella. A very satisfying read.

In love with each other for almost a decade, yet kept apart by their fathers, Raymond and Arabella are given another chance at love when Arabella’s elderly husband dies. But with the new duke desperate to claim Arabella as his own, for reasons other than love, Raymond and Arabella must flee to the country, back to the place where they fell in love so many years ago. Can Raymond and Arabella sort through the feelings of hurt and betrayal that they have kept harbored for so long in order to discover the love that has been buried underneath? Will Raymond be able to save Arabella from the evil hands of the new Duke of Hawthorne or will he lose her forever?

A wonderful, heart-warming tale of trust, friendship, and second chances. I enjoyed reading Love on a Midsummer Night from start to finish. From passionate, well-developed characters with fun, witty banter to dark secrets and family betrayal with a touch of danger, this book was a wonderful read. The story line moved slowly enough for you to really understand the depth of the relationship between Arabella and Raymond, yet fast enough so that it doesn’t seem tedious or boring. I loved how the story intertwined with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, especially having the traveling actors perform the play, with all their quirky behaviors. While it is part of a series, this book is a great stand-alone read. I would recommend this book to any lover of historical fiction as it is very well written and easy to read. This book was received from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.
