    What COULD have been.....

I have heard the story of how Bill Farrow died at the hands of the Japanese all my life. My mother grew up on the street his grandparents lived on in Darlington and she knew him. All my life I wanted to know more about him and when I saw this book, I was excited. Of the many that know of Doolittle's Raid in 1942 few know the story of the 8 captured or the three who were executed. Although I quickly grew tired of being told how Bill died, where and even when, I was hanging on to every word until Chapter 5. The letters and memories of surviving friends and family were just what I wanted to know about. Then there were a couple of things, military things, that were wrong. If the writer was wrong there, where else was he wrong and I just didn't know better. Credibility was gone! Bill Farrow's story deserves telling and hopefully Mr. Griffin has done that, at least in some good measure. But I fear not and that is sad, very sad. If you're curious, go to the library and check it out, it deserves that. But don't waste your $ like I did.
