Lyra Light- this Goldilocks found her "just right" light.
I've read quite a few reviews saying that their lights "will not stay on their nooks", at first I would have agreed when I first received my Lyra Light. However, after a 20 minute tinkering session I was successful to find some little groove on my nook (on the right side) that the light will cling to, and now my light stays on my nook. I will in the future purchase a cover or make one myself though, just to be on the safe side- and to carry around my light and other accessories. The Lyra Light is bright, I had to angle the neck of the light to just the right degree (the neck and head are so easy to manipulate though). My personal angle is the head of the light pulled up and turned slightly to the side, illuminating the whole screen perfectly. The only flaw I've noticed and I suppose I'll just have to get used to is, the light is not as warm as my touch-lamp, the light is cold- it reminds me of a light in an operating room. All and all this light adds to my enjoyment of my nook and I am very pleased with my purchase.
UPDATE: I've had my Lyra Light for almost a month now, and I've waited patiently to update this review until I had the full experience of my Lyra Light. I received my light February 26th and on March 18th I had to replace the batteries. Now I read mostly at night (2-5 hours- depending on weekends and the end of the week), so my reading habits may not sound like the average reader. If you decide to purchase this wonderful little light, judge for yourself. Anyway, a few things I would like to note and these are only my observations:
On my nook (and I have the nook device backing-tangerine) I found the Lyra Light holds better on the right side rather then the left (unknown reason), it holds best clipped on the right side, directly after the lettering "nook", I line it up a little after the "k", however some nights it will need to be adjusted (I lightly push the side of the clip to test if it needs adjusted).
I won't lie, sometimes (with some force) my clip will pop off my nook, but not often like others have reported.
Regarding the clip itself: I've read a few reviews saying theirs has "two small nubs on the plastic inside the clip", mine doesn't, it's completely smooth (different designs?), and with the smoothness thankfully resulting in no scratching of my nook (when the clip does pop off).
Also like many other reviewers have noted "you need to have the "n" of the Lyra Light facing you, in order for the clip to any kind of chance to attach to your nook."
Lastly I would like to tell everyone how easy it is to replace the batteries, just slide off the backing of the Lyra Light and spill the coin batteries out and replace (I'm very grateful for this). I still love this product and am very pleased over all.Show Less

Lyra Light- this Goldilocks found her "just right" light.
I've received this product earlier this week, I usually read by a touch-lamp and have to angle my nook towards the lamp to get full illumination, it was very frustrating. I began to look around for a product that would fit my personal needs- a lot of lights on the market that I looked at were "cheap" looking, feeling and blinked or flickered. I'm so glad I held out for the Lyra Light.

great light for the money
This product fits the nook great and provides a great reading light. BUT, make sure that the lyra light is mounted correctly or it will fall off easily. When mounted to your nook, make sure the "n" on the lyra light clip is facing you, not on the back of the nook.

NOT so great:-(
I found this book light to be vastly inferior to any other I've used. Granted it's light weight but it does NOT stay attached to the nook and falls of VERY easily. Also the battery life seems to be very limited. With all the attention to detail in the developing of the nook (which I LOVE) and other accessories I can't understand why the basic design of this light was so over looked. In closure I HATE it and I know "hate" is a strong word! I'm constantly on the lookout for something to take it's place and only use it when I have NO other choice.

Broke within a month
Very poorly designed ! I got the light about a month ago and my first problem with it is that it does not stay put and falls off very easily. The second I have is that it shorted out or something of that nature when u move it, it flickers on and off and is dim so you are not able to see the whole page without moving it. The third and final strike I have found is the battery does not last at all about a half a month tops from what I have found. Light is not worth the money spent. They really need to redesign the light and being that it is the only light made for the nook at this time, and make it to a higher standard.

Broke after two months
The Lyra Light clip was a little too thick to fit in the spine of my nook cover and broke after two months of light use. Not worth the money. I picked up a sturdier Mighty Bright Light and it works better with my nook cover because it has a thinner clip.

TURN THE CLIP AROUND!!!!
I was all set to give this product a bad review, however I read the other reviews saying that the N has to be in the front. It changes everything! At first it would not clip at all now it fits perfectly with or without my frame. My only problem now with the light is the harshness of the light, I wish that it was a bit warmer, but on the "bright" side I can get from my bed to my bathroom with my nook in the dark with no problems. On a side note for those that mentioned backlighting ereaders...that would defeat the purpose of the eink screens, it would be harsh on the eyes over long periods.

In Pieces!!!!
Got my light as a gift and have used only 5 times. Did not have a problem clipping onto my Nook the first two times --that is as long as the screw stayed in! First couple of times the light clipped onto my Nook just fine. The third time, the light would not clip onto the Nook. It just keep slipping off. Finally realizing the tiny screw holding the spring had slipped part of the way out, I was able to fix and it worked fine the next time. Then, the last time I used, it fell apart in my hands. I now have the pieces in a plastic bag. I live about an hour away from a Barnes and Noble store, so am hoping that they will exchange it when I make it into town. I do have to say that, while it worked, it did put out sufficient light to read in bed. But I am not at all happy with the quality of workmanship!!!!!!

great light
i love my lyra light! but i also have a silicone cover, so it stays more securely. i do agree that it falls off the nook unless it is attached to the silicone cover. comes in very handy!!! they just need to make it have more grip when there is no cover, other than that its awesome!

Only wish the batteries lasted longer . . .
I have read the reviews complaining that the light will not stay on the Nook. I've not experienced any such problems. Perhaps the reviewers' didn't notice that there is a front and back? There is a Nook emblem on the front.
The light stays in place clipped directly to to top of my Nook over a portion of the power switch. The neck seems ultimately adjustable to avoid glare - and avoid waking my spouse while I read in bed.
The light is extremely bright with fresh batteries, but fades as the batteries wear out. The estimated usage time in the description (a few hours of sustained use) is probably correct - at least with the original batteries. The batteries are easily replaceable - but 2 batteries at $3 to $4 a piece is expensive. I hope the replacements last longer - and I'll be more judicious in using it.22 out of 23 people found this review helpful.

Bright light, Sturdy construction
I have had this light for about 4 months and I use it to read in bed almost every night. It's still going on the original batteries. I have dropped it several times (careless, clumsy me!) and it just keeps on working. I had a hard time getting it to stay on the nook AT FIRST, but then I realized that it only clips on one way and if you get it on the right way, it fits perfectly and stays in place.

Bad Design
Since the front face of the nook is smooth and curved slightly, the clip kept slipping off. The grip is not sticky enough to hold it on the front. Also the flexible neck was a little too flexible and I couldn't get it to stay just right. I find it hard to believe that anyone actually tested this to see how well it worked before releasing it for sale. I have a LightWedge Flex Neck clip on book light. The clip part is round, so I clip it to the corner, and the neck is a lot more stable. The clip has 2 small round grippy dots on it and that also helps it stay in place. Plus it was only ten bucks and the light part folds and fits into the base for convenient storage. Buy that one instead.

Light needs a diffuser
The light is certainly bright enough while batteries are fresh. Dimming and flicker does occur after a few hours. The light creates a hot spot and repositioning is needed almost constantly. A diffuser would help greatly to kill the glare. Had the light only two weeks so I cannot speak to it's durability.

Love This Light
Best booklight I have ever bought and I have bought quite a few. It stays secure on my Nook and the light is nice and bright. I really think this is a great product at a great price.

Lyra Light
While it is a little expensive for what it is, it works well. I was surprised that it even clips on easily while my nook is inside a cover. The light is a good brightness for reading. I use mine at night while my husband is asleep instead of a lamp and it works well for that.

DISAPOINTED
Wish I had read the reviews first. When I got a gift certificate, I ran out the same day to get what I thought would be the best thing since my nook. Cant get it to stay on, not bright enough to read by, and battery doesnt last. To add insult to injury, I just found one at the dollar tree store that works better! Really wish this worked as advertised, but sorry to report it does not. My advise is keep shopping, and buy something else instead

Love this Light
This light works great. I do not understand all of the negative reviews. It lights up the entire screen and stays clipped on the Nook perfectly if you just place the "n" logo on the clip so it faces toward you.

Thought it'd be better
I had this delivered to my house a couple hours ago, and wow, it seems like a waste of money. The light is bright enough, and the neck is very flexible and sturdy, but attaching it to the nook is horrible.
It has a clip so it stays, but the inside of the clip is this weird plastic, so it slides right off the top if you jostle or move your position slightly. Tried attaching it to the side, and that's even worse because the side is rounded and it slides right off.
I'm thinking about putting rubber on the insides, or just returning it. Good thing it was only $15.12 out of 17 people found this review helpful.

Wanted to love, but would not recommend
The design is nice in that it's small and compact. I can straighten it out when traveling and slip it in between the nook and cover fold. Its durable as I've dropped it on my terrazzo flooring a few times and it's survived. I've also left it in 100+ degree weather inside my car and it still functions. I own a cover so; I've not had any problems with the clipping design. The light works well when the batteries are brand new. No problems with glare as I just adjust the light to shine from a different angle. Now onto the negative. It's rather cheaply made, but what do you expect for $15. Unfortunately I've gone through four sets of batteries since I've owned the thing. That's no exaggeration. I notice it provides about 2 weeks (10 hours) of power before I have to purchase new batteries. You could extend the battery but the light starts to fade out so, what's the point if it's not working at its brightest the entire time. I'm going to purchase just a regular book light as this one isn't efficient enough.

Lycra Light
I was surprised at the size and weight of the light however it fits perfectly with the Nook. Not so heavy as to damage anything and has a very powerful small light. I would have liked an estimage on battery life. I will purchase an additional battery to have on hand.
The beam provides ample light without disturbing anyone else in the area.
Pricing is more than fair.11 out of 11 people found this review helpful.

Great Light
I needed something to use with my nook at night. This light fit the bill perfectly. I could clip it to my nook but I instead clipped it to my cover. It stays on like a champ. It is a great light! I don't see how I lived without it. I don't have to leave the light on in my room anymore to read. I will have to give an update on the battery life though, since it is new and I have not used it up yet.
