The author was not well researched at all and this book is a spectacle. If you're going to write a book like this, make sure you have all of your facts correct.

    Not so much

"But while Daily News mob reporter Smith draws many parallels between the DeCavalcantes and the fictional Sopranos, the book does not quite live up to its potential. Much of the writing seems disjointed and repetitious, and a few superfluous anecdotes scattered throughout seem to have little relevance to the rest of the story. "

My original rating was NOT 5 stars, accidently pressed the wrong key---I agree with the author of this original review, the book was rambling, unfocused and repititous, about 1/4 of the way through the book I still couldn't figure out if the book was about Vincent Palermo ( started out that way) or the crime family itself or the informants.

    what a surprise

as a italian american in syracuse new york, i've grown up on stories on mob guys. some even similar to the ones on movies and t.v. but many people in hollywood and books call their mob stories pure fake, all their invention. david chase said the same thing about his hbo masterpiece the sopranos. but after the second season of the show was over,we were introduced to this book that introduced us to the real life soprano guys that all of us [especially us italians]know and love.to be able to read about certain charectors who were evaluated by the real life guys is a great read.i really liked the paulie walnuts evaluation alot.any how, this is the story of the real life sopranos.this book has already been realesed but i sugest a better title like, the real guys from jersey.now one thing though is that the book ended with these guys arrested, not yet on trial. i suggest a sequel to see the whole story. all i can say now is buy this book and meet the sopranos

    Greg B Smith

Never try to write a book with just recordings...you don't get all the information. It was a good book..but u jumped around to much. The part about the twin towers could have been peaced together a little bit more...but mainly you jumped from guy to guy and story to story
