Great Heroine Suffering from Bad Cover Art
With it's cringe-inducing cover art and horrible description, I took this recommendation from a friend with a grain of salt. To my surprise, I actually quite enjoyed it, and devoured the whole thing in one (up way too late) sitting. The heroine is excellent- smart, strong, and capable of taking care of herself, yet she realistically exists within the confines of her time. While her plot is more than a bit pedantic, and altogether too predictable, her characters and their relationships are outstanding. Even her supporting cast shines through.
Frankly, I enjoyed the characters so much (especially her already married older sisters and their husbands) that I went ahead and tracked down the rest of the series, just to get more of them.
Recommended for a fun romp, just don't take it too seriously.
