    Absolutely delightful

This was one of those books I wished would continue past the end. Anna Hartcort is such a fun character. She was so wonderfully immature, and honestly innocent and naive, like a sixteen year old in the Victorian era would be. The idea of a noble lady posing as a maid to win a nobleman was the height of all bad ideas and done crazy well by Anthea. It reminded me of the "Luxe" series, but light hearted and fun.

A good read, but a bit short...

I was thoroughly enjoying the storyline when it was over so quickly. I would have loved to see what happened to the hero and heroine after they discover their real identities. Pity I won't get to find out.

A delightful Regency Romance novelette/ short story.

MAID FOR SCANDAL, by Anthea Lawson (about 32 pages) is a delightful Regency Romance. Miss Anna Harcourt poses as a maid in order to be near to her beloved, Mr. Giles Wildering (of the gentry), for two glorious weeks...the reward to be her impending engagement. It's a grand plan, put into place with the assistance of her good friend Belinda, whose manor is within walking distance of the Wildering country estate.

Watching Giles topple from the very high pedestal Ana has placed him on is amusing! Even better is watching her changing affections, and the development of friendship (and so much more) with the unknown Jonathan.

The depth of characterizations and plot was just right for a short story of this length. The dialogue worked beautifully, and Anna's foray into the working class (as a gently bred and educated lady) was very well done. The ending is a sweet resolution to the story lines, and I found the emotional ties between the hero and heroine to be very much in character.

I agree completely with the sensuality rating of 2 out of 4 'flames' (suggestive situations, kisses).

This was my first exposure to Anthea Lawson's work...and I do see why she was nominated for the prestigious RITA award. I'll definitely be looking for more of her books. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and highly recommend it to fans of Regency romance.

    Could have been better!

This book had potential but it was rather lame.
