I am a mother of three little children and I am hispanic. I often look for books that illustrate life and lessons from other cultures/countries. That is what attracted me to this book. I was delighted to find so many beautiful messages and images from so many different cultures, but shocked at the message that represented the English language. It is an african american boy being told by his mother to ' walk with pride' and the image shows him walking by mean non-black people holding a sign that clearly is trying to show "HATE". Shame on the author of this book to reinforce this long history of hate and to try to indoctrinate little children. I wonder why he did not include the massacre of native american, starving russians under communism, starving ethiopians, extremist muslims.....and so on. Every country and culture has terrible thing in their past and present, but this is not what a littles kids book should focus on.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
