Patinkin Presents a Work Of Art
Mamaloshen (Mother Tongue) is a CD of songs sung by Mandy Patinkin in Yiddish. In another lifetime, Mandy would have been a cantor. Instead he is a gift from God to America. This brilliamt actor and interpretor of Sondheim presents us with a collection which includes Take Me Out to The Ballgame and Paul Simon's American Tune (which is worth the price of admision in itself). I am not Jewish. I am Irish Catholic. So I do not understand the words, even of the songs that I know in Rnglish. Still, I do understand the emotion. This CD is something special'Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
The only thing that I ask is that Mandy would record a Yiddish version of "Sweet Caroline" for my Red Sox friends.
