Very Good! Science Fiction with a human touch.
Before I ever read the book, I saw the movie with David Bowie, the original 'space oddity', and while it was a liitle psychedelic, I found the story quite interesting. It wasn't until years later that I took the time to read the book and, as it happens 99% of the time, the written story was vastly more intriguing than the movie. The character of the lonely visitor has such humanity, you find yourself wanting to transport there and help him in his plight. I've never been a real fan of science fiction but this story reached me in a way that so many others weren't able to do.

Science fiction or human drama?
The book is about alienation, the book centers aroung three people who are mostly alone in the world. The only thing these three have in common is the fact that they are all alienated from society. The title character an alien is not only an alien but a millionare, the second most important character is a Professor with a Doctorate, and the third character is a drunken widow who lives on welfare checks and gin. Though the author weaves an elaborate scheme, the underlying theme is the lonliness each character lives with and how differently they deal with it. The book is hard to put down and is an easy read considering the complexities of building an alien craft, you'll never get lost in words and numbers. It's well thought out and very endearing. The movie made from this is different in some respects to the characters. It may not have the emotional centerfold which the book relies on to keep the readers attention.

The best book in science fiction! The Man Who Fell To Earth has fallen.
The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, is an exciting book about a man who is different from the rest, not in appearance but in the way he reacts to things. T.J. Newton is an alien who comes to earth on a desperate mission of mercy. But instead of help he finds loneliness and depression that ends in tragedy.T.J.Newton tries to survive in a world which is most different from his own. The novel contains very good description for those who like to imagine. It¿s the best I¿ve seen, and I¿ve read lot of books. Overall it was pretty good. This incredible novel is perfect for mature middle schoolers, teenagers, and adults of all ages.
