    Lots of things.....

If anyone has ever had a dog for a companion, you should read this book. Even if you never have had a dog, I think you'll like it too. All the ins and outs of owning a dog are there including the fun times and the sad times, the times that you just want to strangle them to the times that you just want to hug them. That comes from a person who once owned a dog. I was reluctant at first and wanted to strangle her after about the first 2 months lol. Glad I got her and enjoyed many good times and miss her today. This book brought back all of those days we had.

    A 'Maniacally' good read.

A nice fun read, 'The Bunkie Story' gets you to a point where you think you've known Bunkie. The stories told are so well intertwined with elements of the author's life that you soon come to realize just how important a dog is in one's life.

    A reviewer

I loved it! The book was a heart felt story of a man and his dog. It fully expresses the relationship one can have with their pet. Cause we don't just think of them as pets we consider them a part of the family and you can feel that in this book. Bunkie is the companion that everyone would want to have. Energetic, emotional, affectionate and compassionate, the true definition of unconditional love.

    True story

As the owner of 2 labs, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very easy read, and was written as if Mr. Emery was sitting across the table and telling about Bunkie.

Old dogs care about you even when you make mistakes.

Tom T. Hall said it best. Ain't but three things in this world that's worth a solitary dime -- Old dogs and children and watermelon wine. Old dogs care about you even when you make mistakes. Well Chuck Emery knows this to be a truth. If his book is ever made into a movie ¿ it will go done in history as the first ¿Dude Flick¿, a movie the women who won¿t understand. The Bunkie Story is a well written and funny collection of short stories about the loyalty between man and his dog. I am the care taker (does anyone really own a dog) of five dogs aged 9 months to 13 years, and I now have this urge to go find a yellow Labrador. Buy this book and you will have three hours of a warm and fuzzy feeling. Dave `the Old Hippie¿ Schultz oldhippie.com

    Great book

Being an animal lover and the proud momma of a labrador retriever, I can identify with Chuck's stories about his wonderful dog, Bunkie. The love he had, and still has for Bunkie showed in his writing. Bunkies antics brought back many memories of my yellow lab that I lost last year. I would recommnend this book to anyone who is an animal lover and especially those who love and are loved by a great labrador retriever.

Bunkies Story is a classic book

Charles Emery writes straight from the heart and it shows in his story about Bunkie! I see similar traits in my female Lab. I have laughed and cried throughout the whole book and I'm sure anyone who reads it will too. It's not an easy book to put down, and I know I will read it again and again. I'm looking forward to read more books by Charles Emery, I also would like to meet him shake his hand and hang out with him for at least a day or 2!

    A Doglover's Must Read

Each chapter could stand alone as we follow the life together of the writer and his dog Bunkie. If you don't have a dog before reading this, you will be at the pound after.

Every dog owner should have a copy

I am not finished reading A Man And His Maniac because it is so good. I read a chapter right before I go to bed and I have pleasant dreams. Bunkie is such a good dog. I really laughed when the Bunkie was doing the pure breed next door. Collador! Yeah!

    Two dewclaws up!

This is a poignant tribute to a man's best friend, written in an engaging and natural conversational style. At turns heartrending, heartwarming, and hilarious. Definitely a must-read for everybody who has owned or been owned by a dog. I'm absolutely looking forward to more from this gifted first-time author- thanks Snook. Matt (70slantsick)

Great Book about A Man and his Dog

Congratulations to Charles Emery on an excellent book that was well written and easy to read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys animals, especially dogs. I laughed a lot while reading this book, thinking about the antics of our family dog ¿Carley Sue¿ a cross between a blond lab and a pit bull. She too brought 14 years of joy to me, my wife, and our two kids. The book¿s ending brought tears to my eyes¿ a somber reminder that that our beloved pets do not live forever. It is tough to let go of a family pet and companion after 14 years. But it is kinder to put them asleep than let them suffer.

    Great Book!

Charles had a few extra of his prints left over, and his beloved Moondoggie drew my name out of a hat to recieve one free of charge. I was excited to get this book, and read it, as I had been hearing about it for awhile now. I read it in one night. It is a very heartwarming and loving story. I really enjoyed it. This book will be great for Middle- Highschool children for sure! Great job Chuck! I look forwards to your next book!!
