Yet Another Management Guide!
Like all of Peter Drucker's books this book contains useful management guidelines. It is well written and easy to read as always. On the other hand, it does not give any postive advice on how NOT to behave as a manager by which company management could align itself and management school could teach eager new managers, so that they do not fall prey to ENRON-like accounting systems and self-centered CEOs, which plunge a company into bankruptcy. For that kind of guidance, I would recommend the powerful messages to management woven with a touch of satirical humor within the true-to-life episodes of, 'MANAGEMENT BY VICE', by C.B. Don. As a complement to 'Managing In The Next Society', this book is also a great page-turner and asset. You will find it pays in the long run to recognize the basic character traits of counter-productive managers, exquisitely demonstrated in the erudite, 'Management By Vice'. And once they have been up-rooted, then turn to Peter Drucker's advice. For, unless negative practices and those who support such beahvior are removed first, there can be no bright future and 'Managing in the Next Society' will be nothing short of a real mess!
