    TERRIBLE!

This book was horrible. The main character seems braindead and annoying throughout. Reminds me of one of those people who would be texting and tailgating all the while putting on lipstick...as if they are looking for something bad to happen. I could barely make it through this one because I found the main character to be so annoying on top of a lame duck storyline.

    Couldn't Even Finish It

I've had bad experiences with Oprah book club books before, so I was cautious when I began this one. Rightfully so, I suppose, because this book was so poorly written and failed to hold my attention past the first third of it. I think it is a book that perhaps middle aged women could relate to (hence it belonging to Oprah's book club), but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. It was bland and unsaturated and it didn't have any of the components a good novel should have, including theme, plot and intriguing characters. Considering how one-dimensional these characters are, it would be thought that a less-bland storyline would bring added depth to the novel, but it had the opposite effect. It resulted in boring characters in a more boring situation. It got me asking the question, 'Who cares?' throughout the entire thing.

    WHAT A WEAK MAIN CHARACTER!

THE MAIN CHARACTER, ALICE, WAS SUCH A WEAK PERSON. THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE BOOK, I KEPT WAITING FOR HER TO STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING. INSTEAD, SHE JUST WALLOWED IN HER OWN SELF-PITY. THE ONLY REASON I FINISHED THIS BOOK WAS BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE HOW IT ENDED. I WAS DISSAPPOINTED.

Not Worth Your Time Or Your Money!!

I was so disappointed in this book! My husband bought it for me for my birthday because I'd mentioned that I wanted to read it...Oprah had yet to recommend a book I didn't like. I never leave a book unfinished, but it was tempting this time!! I had to FORCE myself to finish it. I usually read 1 or 2 books a week and it took me over 2 wks. to finish this one! BORING! I wish my husband hadn't wasted his money! This book isn't fit for the paper that was wasted on printing it. I'm not even going to donate it to the library...I would be too embarrased! The ONLY reason why it still sits on my bookshelf is because it was a gift!! The plot was good, but the characters were a bit far-fetched. Don't waste your time or money on this one!

    WAY TOO SLOW!!!!

This book looked so good, and I am a huge fan of Oprah's books. WRONG! I couldn't even finish this book. Each time I picked it up I could only read a few pages at a time. And I tried hard! BORING!

    Had to put it down

I have never before in all of my years actually had to put a book down. I was very disapointed in the book. It rambled around too much and the suspense of knowing what happens to Alice just wasn't enough to keep it going.

    The story drags

A Map of the World is a book whose storyline drags so badly,it takes you as long to read it as a trip around the world would take. It is not one of Oprah's better picks.
