One of my favorite true crime books.

I have read over 300 true crime books & rarely read one twice. I have now read this book 3 times over the last 15 years & it is one that has stuck with me after the others have become a blur. I know John Lucky Fry died, but I would love the author to get an update on Dawn Spens. How is her life now? Hollywood should do a movie, maybe Mila Kunis as Dawn. Great book, recommend it to true crime fans.

    A Brief Encounter

I am from Detroit and a recovered drug addict, have been for many years. I first read this book years ago and it is true to the core. I was never a prostitute like Dawn, but I knew many, most girls had no other way to make money. One day my brother and I pulled up to her and Lucky and was inquiring about what was good on the streets that day. She said, 'I can't go anywheres until 'Doc' gets here.' It is very strange to read about about all of this. I would like to know what is going on with both of them today. I must say, I believe she was involved in everything from beginning to end.

Check this out..esp if u like TRUE crime stories

I read this book in 2004. I found this book at a garage sale..but, the story and the way it was written stuck with me...so much, that I had to research to find out the name of it!(because I had forgotten the title)But luckily I am re-united with it.. and bought a copy this time ,for keeps! I love the gritty story of the Detroit area drug addicts, pimps, unsavory characters, and the Psychiatrist all wound together in this true crime story.

    I've read better

I wish the author would have given more back ground on Dawn and less un-related information about Detriot.
