    Couldn't get into it

This book takes place in London and the word choice made it difficult for me to get into because of it. I couldn't get past the sentence structure and how it differs from what I'm use to and decided to start another book and see if I could go back to it later.

    Massively Made

I picked the book up at my library and realized I had to read it. So as I was reading it I was really really getting into it. The end caused me to hate the book.
The end made no sense to me.

    Massively Repetitive

This book may have an interesting cover and look promising, but it definitely lacks in real plot and character development. Carmen seems very immature for her age, and I couldn't relate to her. She had no real friends (Paisley is definitely not considered a 'real' friend) except one, who is hardly mentioned, and absolutely no love interests. The ending was bland and predictable. The book was incredibly repetitive and nothing exciting happened for several fact, nothing exciting happened in the entire book. It wasn't awful to read, but definitely tested my patience.

    Somewhat realistic, but terrible writing.

First of all, I think that this book portrays the experience of having an eating disorder somewhat well, but the writing is beyond mediocre. It's jerky, it doesn't flow at all, and the 'voice' of Carmen, the main character, is nonexistent. It also feels as if the author took the basic rule of being specific a little too far¿she names countless actual products such as Big Macs, Weight Watchers, Snickers, Mars Bars¿and instead of rendering the book more realistic, it just feels out-of-place. None of the characters in the book are likable whatsoever. Carmen, who is supposed to be sympathetic, comes off as whiny and immature. Her mother has no personality traits other than being obsessed with everyone's food and weight, and instead of seeming realistic, it renders her annoying and one-dimensional, rather than having the complex personalities and other problems that most eating disordered people have. The author did not fully address the reasons behind Carmens eating disorder instead, she focused on the symptoms. All in all, this book portrays the obsession with food and weight, but not much else. If you're looking for a good book about eating disorders, I would recommend Wasted by Marya Hornbacher or Perfect by Natasha Friend.

    Utterly disappointed

I had high hopes for this book, but that only brought me down harder when I read it. It tells nothing of Carmen's character, her opinions, and her thoughts. It was pretty straight forward, but that makes it lack the depth that you expect from a book like this. I wish the author could have elaborated a bit on the characters and not so much the entire plot. The ending was the most disappointing, as it left everything hanging. Not a very good read.
