it's okay not as great as others may say
The writing is very discontinuous and ideas don't link very well from sentence to sentence. It seems like he wrote in a constant stream of complete idealistic thought. It's a quick read at least. The four agreements is better.

Heaven on Earth
This book gives hopeless romantics peace of mind and spirit. Don Miguel Ruiz's words open your eyes to the power of love and true happiness. Always strive for Heaven on Earth and you will be much closer to achieving it than if you had never tried. You can begin today by loving yourself so you can work on loving those around you. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever experienced the need to heal the wounds of the heart, mind, and soul.

Utopian Outlook Nice But Unrealistic
Unfortunately, I was not as thrilled as some after reading this book. The author makes a lot of assumptions about the reader that I found to be untrue about myself. And while the sentiment and advice expressed in the book might work in Heaven, it sure is not going to work here on Earth. Its like 'Make love not war' -- its a great slogan, and a noble philosophy, but it cannot be practiced in a world where protection is still sometimes necessary by force. And what the heck is wrong with fear? Thats what makes me strong. Without fear, we are nothing but robots. Sure, do not let fear rule you, but fear can be healthy. Pain and fear can be a great motivator. So don't let the advice in this book rule your life. Rule your own life. Skip this book and find peace within.

This book is medicine for the soul
I read this book of 200 something pages straight through in half a day which is on the quick side for me. This book is wonderful. It made me feel so good and really changed my thinking in a positive way. It really highlighted the "wrong thinking" I had been practicing. I think so far I've recommended this book to 3 people, my father being one. I felt so much self love and peace as I was reading, it was impossible to put this book down.

Wisdom. Affirmations. Love.
The Mastery of Love brings forth more Toltec wisdom and reaffirms the age-old belief that to get love, you must first love yourself and know that you are complete, perfect and divine just the way you are. Only when both partners in a relationship adopt this mindset and do not need to control, manipulate or impose their dramas on one another, can this balance be maintained in a happy, healthy relationship. Basic information, yet a great affirmation for those seeking to master love or refresh relationships.

An inspiring book for self-examination and relationships
Don Miguel Ruiz introduces some very intriguing concepts to explore in this book. Many of these concepts focus on the art of relationship and being able to build healthy relationships with people. Though not a new concept by any means, Ruiz delves into the idea that one must love himself before he can be open to truly loving others. What I liked about this book was the undeniable connection established between love of self and love of others. I also like the way he exposes our society as a domesticated one, and urges the reader to view himself as human, as animal, without the learned behaviors and values that we were taught to believe. In doing so, a person will be able to discover truth amidst the many lies we are faced with each day. His description of a true kind of love is one that I believe in completely, but that can be easily buried with expectations and demands. I've read this book twice, and am convinced that this is one of those books I should read once a year, just to remind myself of what is truly important in my life. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for meaning and self-awareness.

Good but Repetitive
The book was really inspirational and provided advice for a healthier life, but it was really repetitive. I feel like the author could have gotten his point across with half the pages.

Wise, inspiring, & light read
Ruiz brings relationship dynamics that we are otherwise blind to right to the surface. His words of wisdom are clear enough for all to understand and grasp. However, I did find that time to time some of the writing became a bit redundant. Either way everyone should read this book because it will help you with ALL relationships... not just romantic ones. This book will help you with in-laws, co-workers, immediate family, etc. Not to mention its a really light read, probably will only take you a few hours or so.

'Writing our story with love.'
This is the fourth in the Toltec Wisdom Series ¿ so be prepared for a beautiful read. In it Ruiz writes about peeling away the layers, the voices of those we allowed to be caught up in our belief system and that now interfere with our creative, authentic expression. Ruiz calls these voices the voice of knowledge. It¿s our moneymind, our ego, `the voice in our head¿ that is so often about pain and drama, fear and sorrow. He talks about how we abandon the true self because we substitute those other voices for ours, and his book is filled with awareness and insights about what we can do about it. In his wonderfully personal and conversational style Ruiz tells stories of stories. Life is a matter of storytelling: theirs or ours, it¿s our choice. My favourite chapter he calls 'Writing Our Story with Love'. That says it all.

Ruiz provides focus on life...
A few months ago I picked this book up by chance. However in reading the book I realized it was not by chance and was a wonderful choice. I am recently divorced and have began to realize I have a lot to learn about relaitonships and my role in them. Within more than one chapter in the book I found liknesses to myself and my reactions to certian situations. The book can not solve my "issues" but it provided me with a great outlook at a place to begin. It also helped me see why I was not doing so well in a relationship and that I most likely will not until I take care of myself first.

Read this book!
This book helped me to realize that I was loving out of fear. I was in a six year relationship with someone that I loved, but was poisoning him with my own problems and unhappiness. I could not believe how accurate the book is in explaining the way we poison eachother and weigh eachother down in relationships. I have a long way to go, but at least I am aware and am on the right path to love.
