Good book to review basic math skills

I bought this book to brush up on my basic math skills for a college placement exam. I have been out of school for quite some time. I was able to recall a lot of the rules and problem solving methods I had forgotten. It has good, easy to understand explanations and examples.
I was able to score well on the arithmetic portion of the exam

    Terrible book

I found the 1st 10 pages of this tutorial to be fragmented in logical process. There seemed to be alot of jumping around from one concept to another whithout any follow through on some of the explanations. Alot of the terminology is being constantly switched with other terms that had a totally different meaning on the previous page. This book will create more barriers than teach the language of math. This book will cause more damage than any possible good.

Returned to school after 25+ years

I'm finally returning to school after 25 years and knew that I was going to need help in brushing up on my math skills. The placement tests at the college revealed I was correct, and the counselor recommended this book to me. I was really impressed with the pretest at the beginning of the book & quite surprised with my actual test results. Although the test revealed I needed the most help with the Algebra & Geometry sections, I chose to study the book from start to finish. I have found this book to be a very helpful resource for me. In addition to helping me hone my everyday math skills, I have been able to bring my algebra & geometry skills back up to a college level. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who is need of some help in bringing up their math skills.

Great organization to focus on problem areas!

The book starts with a pre test. After you grade your test, the book refers you to the chapter and page number to review this type of problem. The instructions are very basic, so if you have been out of the classroom for 10+ years and do not recall the rules of integers or the vocabulary associated with equations, you can revisit this. I am impressed with the VERY organized outline form.
