Very engaging freshman effort
This was an enjoyable read for me. Felt very Zane Grey-ish. Gore's love of all things cowboy, and all things honorable, really comes through. It's easy to root for the good guys in this story!
A couple of complaints, which I have with many self-published books:
1 -- Smashwords needs to do a better job of formatting their publications. There's no chapter navigation for the nook, and there are no page breaks between chapters. Sure, the second item is a nit, but it's those little things that make a big difference in perception.
2 -- The text contains some errors that better editing would clear up. Not a ton of them, but a few. Readers need to be able to get past those to enjoy the story.
Even with those complaints, A Matter of Honor is probably the best self-published book I have read, and I'm truly looking forward to the sophpmore novel from Mr. Gore.

Enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and the humor. This is my second read by this author, and am looking forward to the third one.
