Wonderful Halloween Book, with Crafts, Decorating Ideas and Recipes!
This was one of the first Craft and Decorating books I ever bought. It's a hardback book with 127 pages of beautifully colored photos. The book itself is a collectible. The crafts, recipes and decorating ideas range from easy to a bit more complex, but not over-the-top expensive to do. The recipes include "Yummy Mummy Meatloaf," "Green Gruel Eyeballs" and of course decorated cookies. There are many! Most of the recipes are tasty and very nutritious too (the green gruel eyeballs are made with broccoli and boiled eggs). If you don't want to cook, Mead gives you ideas on how to decorate store bought cookies and cakes. There's instructions to knit your own witch's stockings (I don't knit, I crochet). The decorations are unique too. There's a candy corn pincushion, eyeball plates, even a quilt. Again, these range from easy to more comples. At the end of the book Mead included things you can copy (black cats, faces, a crow). As you can tell, I do love this book! It's on the par with Martha Stewart (whose books I also own). But Mead's book is not laden with expensive things to buy if you can find them at all. Take a peek at the cover. We made the "Eggs in Disguide" last year and everyone loved the idea. The book has the easy directions as well as the pattern for the witch's hat and mask for the boiled eggs. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
