    Hard to get into...

This is the weakest of the the McK series to date. The heroine starts off so inconsistent that readers may find it hard to get into this story. Somehow a 30 yr old woman smart enough to own a top L.A. agency seems to have none of the savy one would expect with that background. The explanation for why she gave up her baby is really weak - she's mature and wealthy, can't see her turning a baby she wanted over to a man she knows is dishonest. She runs a big business and doesn't know why her former boyfriend's wife wants to see her, so packs a wagon load of designer luggage and hops a GREYHOUND? After taking the slowest possible transport, she's in too much hurry to clean up or change out of her grungy clothes before dashing to the lady's doorstep. Throughout the story she seems much weaker character than one would expect - perhaps more believable if LLM had made her young and impoverished, or if baby's father had somethiung over her. Otherwise it's hard to understand why she doesn't stand up for herself. And the male lead is initially so nasty to this woman he doesn't know that it's hard to like him. All in all the characters are rather inconsistent and the least engaging of this series.
