Don't get if taking the NET

At first glance this book seemed great - nicely divided in to easy to understand sections with good explanations. However, when I started taking the drills at the end of each section I noticed that there are many mistakes and inaccuracies in either the questions or answers, causing you to think that you got something wrong when you were actually right. It appears that no-one has checked this book at all for accuracy.

Secondly, this book is not suitable for those taking the NET. The nursing school I applied to makes you take the NET for Math and English. After intense study I scored 100% on both of the book's English tests and over 95% on each of the book's Math tests. However, when I came to take the real exam, the English was a lot harder than anything presented in this book and I only scored 67%. Also, the Math test I took only involved whole numbers, decimals, percentages, fractions and some algebra, which means that most of what I learned from this book was not needed at all. I only scored 82% on Math because I ran out of time. You can't go back to more difficult questions so you have to spend more time tackling those as they arise (or skip them and forfeit the point) - something the book didn't tell you so I learned that on the day.

Needless to say, I was disappointed that I had wasted my time (and money) using this book as a study aid as I do not feel that it helped me at all. I should have chosen something different. Luckily, the nursing school that I really want to get in to does the HESI test, so I'm hoping to do better with that after a lesson well-learned.
