Great book with one caution. GIVE PART OF STORY AWAY! DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT A BIT OF A SPOILER!

This is another great book from the American Girl series of stories, characters, and books. The only caution I would give to parents, hate to be a spoiler so don't read if you don't want a bit of a plot spoiler but, there is a character who dies. I really didn't expect it myself and thought I would let other parents know to be prepared and consider that as a possibility.

When I was a kid, I read this book a couple weeks after I learned how to read. Doesn't quite compare to Little House on the Prairie. PLEASE DON'T READ AHEAD IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED! Kirsten's best friend dies in one chapter which I read one hundred times, and in the other books, she forgets all about Marta. :(
